With handicaps at this sort of distance there is only one direction you can possibly look and that is towards Sir Mark Prescott, who runs NEWT here who could take all the beating. He was a beaten favourite at Wetherby last time but is given another chance on faster ground and now 2lb lower in the ratings. Kiruna Peak was ahead of the selection that day and should be the main danger here while Plato's Kode is an interesting contender trying a trip this far for the first time.

DAHIK failed to oblige favourite backers when not having the smoothest of passages around the twists and turns of Chester last time, but can make amends now and get off the mark at the third time of asking for Roger Varian. Fab was second over course and distance on debut and may be an improver in the pack, while Richard Hannon's son of Kodiac, Ursus Belle, could be the best of the newcomers and any significant market support should be noted.

Roger Varian's Trick of The Light has been consistent, placing on both his starts this term, and must go on the shorlist along with Babyfact who triumphed here over track and trip last time. However, the vote goes to Paul Cole's MR POCKET who got a share of the pot when dead-heating over course and distance last time and can claim glory all on his own this time.

DEALER'S CHOICE narrowly failed to break her duck when beaten a length at Lingfield on her seasonal bow and Roger Vairan's filly is entitled to come on for the run. She should be very tough to beat today and the main danger looks to be Under The Covers, who struggled at Chelmsford latest but was only beaten a length over this C&D the time before. Hell Of A Lady rates best of the remainder.

HARRISON STICKLE ran with plenty of promise on his return when runner-up behind Powerful Dream here over slightly shorter and is entitled to improve now stepped up to 6f being lightly raced as well. Indian Affair is capable of better than what he achieved on his latest start at Salisbury and is respected along with Molly Jones, who has dropped 7lb in two runs despite running well, and Kingstreet Lady.

MAJOR VALENTINE ran really well having gone up 7lb for a win at Nottingham back at the same track last month when a close up third behind Mighty Zip and looks a big player here guaranteed fast ground off that same mark. The Big Lad has been in very solid form without getting his head in front and should give another bold account, while Silverrica has every chance on her recent second here.

CAPTAIN COURAGEOUS was an impressive winner at Haydock on his latest outing and could take some stopping under a 6lb penalty if repeating that sort of form this evening. Recent course winner Mister Musicmaker also bids for a double and rates the biggest threat off a 6lb higher mark with a proven liking for this venue. Stormbound completes the shortlist.
