GETAWAY FRANKIE landed a novice hurdle at Hexham on her first start for Tristan Davidson's yard. There looks to be more to come and she is taken to defy a penalty. Jolie Coeur Allen returns to novice company with a shout having finished a respectable fifth in a handicap hurdle here last month, while Green Bonnet made a promising debut over timber at Kelso.
Bittalemon represents a yard with a fine record here and is likely to prove popular. She should progress again on this softer surface and her flat form suggests there is plenty more to come in this sphere. However she will need to improve to get close to JOLIE COEUR ALLEN who was given an overly negative ride here last time but sets a clear standard on her Irish form. She is another who will appreciate this softer surface and should be tough to beat if bringing her best. Imperial Data posted a solid effort in a higher grade here last month. He makes more appeal than Perth winner Go Go Chicago, but CITY DERBY is taken to bounce back to form. Lizzie Quinlan's charge landed a four-timer at the track last summer which included a victory in this race. Now back on a winning mark, he will relish the underfoot conditions and can regain the winning thread.
An open race where the least exposed in the field GO GO CHICAGO makes most appeal. He needed every yard when taking a strong race at Perth last time and should progress again now upped further in trip. Veteran Curley Finger has been struggling for some time but he is forgiven his latest run here where he went too fast and has now dropped below his last winning mark. He could get an easier time up front here and would be a danger if doing so. The consistent Greatness Awaits can't be dismissed on these terms either but has stamina concerns if turned out quickly.

A change of scenery seems to have worked the oracle for DICKENS as he landed a conditional jockeys' race at Hexham on his first start for Jennie Candlish. He not only escapes a penalty for that success, but Luke Scott can now claim 5lb and the gelding could prove hard to stop. Gone In Sixty has been raised 7lb for winning easily at Fakenham and is noted along with Newton Abbot winner Arctic Angel.
Though he stamina concerns now upped in trip it is hard to get away from DICKENS who was an impressive winner at 2m last time benefitting from a pace collapse and is thrown in escaping a penalty. Gone In Sixty finally got his head in front last time and remains well treated on his best form so is strongly respected but he is another with slight stamina concerns up in trip. The Irish stable of Evies Court has enjoyed success on these shores recently and she will appreciate the drop in trip having been outstayed over a stiff 3m last time so should also compete.

It could be worth chancing returning Irish raider MIGHTY TOM. Cian Collins' charge finished a respectable fifth in the Galway Hurdle last year and a race of this nature looks well within his compass. Aucunrisque is also noted and would have every chance if coming back to last November's Ascot form, while Come On The Lads represents a shrewd yard and is another to bear in mind.
An open race where the least exposed in the field over hurdles COME ON THE LADS makes most appeal. He's been progressing steadily in this sphere and came clear with a very useful flat performer last time in Ireland. His previous handicap form has been franked and he can take advantage of a generous mark back on favourable easy ground. Horn Cape returned to form on chase debut here last time and is another who will appreciate the softer surface. He holds no secrets from the handicapper but should give a good account given his yard's fine record here. The same can be said of Hurricane Ali's stable and he is of minor interest in first time cheekpieces having dropped a long way in the weights.

CHARLIE UBERALLES made light work of the opposition when making all over C&D last month and he's fancied to take this contest for the second year in a row. Although Dianne Sayer's inmate has a career-high mark to overcome, a third track victory looks possible. Tommie Beau is another who rarely runs badly at this venue and he's feared most. Riaan may fare best of the remainder.
Another open contest which may go back to Ireland courtesy of RIAAN. He was well fancied when coming down last time but prior to that he placed behind a handicap blot in a much better race at Punchestown and a repeat of that would see him go close. While he wouldn't want any further rain it would suit fellow Irish raider Cave Court who ran well over hurdles last time in a strong contest despite going off far too quickly. He isn't fully exposed in this sphere and could play a part if progressing. Of the home challenge the consistent Tommie Beau is feared most given his excellent course record but he will need a stiff test over this sharp enough trip.

THE KING OF MAY is already a dual course winner and looks worth chancing off a handy mark after a promising return from a break at Hexham 15 days ago. Pilgrims King also warrants close inspection after a respectable third-placed finish over 2m5f here last month, while Jelski is a previous C&D winner who won't need to raise his game by much in order to be involved.
Last time out course winner Defence Witness is likely to prove popular as he needed every yard last time so the step up in trip should be in his favour. The easier ground won't be an issue and he holds solid claims though may be vulnerable to the well treated THE KING OF MAY. He was a course winner off 1lb higher last year and shaped very well on his reappearance before his fitness gave way. Pittsburg boasts a better record over fences than hurdles and reverts to the larger obstacles with solid claims in a very winnable race. However, the ground has turned in the favour of ENSEL DU PERCHE, who already boasts a C&D win and could provide a bit of value back at this unique circuit. Jolyjump also warrants close inspection on his stable debut.
A tough one to call to finish but it may be worth forgiving GREENROCK ABBEY his disappointment here on Friday where he was unsuited by the chewed up ground over hurdles. He was a cosy winner over fences prior to that and could bounce back returned to the larger obstacles. Pittsburg is another who will appreciate the return to chasing and he is respected if the ground isn't too testing given his good recent form. Of those at bigger prices Fostered Phil could go well. He posted his best effort since a lay off last time in a race which has worked out well and has slipped a long way in the weights.
