Emirate Isle came good on just his third start for Chris Grant at Sedgefield recently and has obvious claims despite an 8lb rise, while Bunratty showed much more at Ayr last time and could figure prominently if progressing again. The vote, however, goes WALTHAM ABBEY. He got within half-a-length of subsequent winner Carters Rest (who beat Bunratty by 5-lengths) at Newcastle latest (Emirate Isle fifth) and a repeat performance should see him bang there.
Waltham Abbey's back-to-form third at Newcastle last month is working out well and he has sound claims of regaining the winning thread with the likely strong pace sure to play to his strengths. Recent Sedgefield scorer Emirate Isle and Bunratty shouldn't be too far away either.

This looks STOPPED OUT's for the taking. Either side of a Hexham fall, Kate Walton's seven-year-old has been placed at Carlisle and Wetherby and a repeat of either of those two assignments may suffice today. Captain Paulie was bang there three from home on his chasing debut over 2m here last month and, entitled to strip fitter for that first start since early May, he demands respect, while Ski Sunday has yet to convince over fences.
With Ski Sunday yet to convince as a chaser, this looks best left to Stopped Out and Captain Paulie, preferred in that order.

Quel Elite has reached the frame on each of his last four starts and should be in the thick of the action once again, but SOUDAIN is taken to defy the burden of top weight. He may have gone for home too soon (leaving nothing in the tank late on) when a beaten favourite at Huntingdon last time and he couldn't have won any easier at Hexham previously. Welsh raider Finnegan Paddy is worthy of consideration.
Quel Elite was disappointing last time, but has some strong form in the book and is worth another chance up in trip. Soudain is still unexposed and could get involved, while Realmont may last longer with his first run for almost 2½ years behind him.

A competitive-looking heat and it's difficult to rule any of these out with confidence. Carrietau is 12lb higher than when winning this contest last year and could struggle to pull off his front-running tactics, while Lord Villez runs his race more often than not and rates a solid each-way player. Kilkenny All Star and Altan Khan are others to consider, but KARINGREASON, whose game C&D win last month is working out well (second and fifth have won since), is the preferred choice.
Kilkenny All Star is as good as ever despite his advancing years and makes the most appeal off what still looks a lenient mark. Recent C&D winner Karingreason rates the main danger.

A chance is taken on DOYLY CARTE. She makes plenty of appeal on breeding, being a half-sister to Group 2 Flat scorer Dandino, and Donald McCain is sure to have her wound up for today's racecourse debut. Cavalier Spirit is entitled to have learnt a great deal from his debut fourth at Ffos and could shape with a lot more promise here, while Gonow and Classic Rally are others worth keeping an eye on.
Cranberry Ice is easily the pick of those with experience, but he hardly sets an exacting standard and this is confidently expected to go the way of a newcomer. Doyly Carte, Classic Rally and Gonow all make plenty of appeal and are preferred in that order.
