No one has started the new season better than Dan Skelton and his Blairs Cove warrants plenty of respect after winning a decent Warwick contest (second and third have since franked the form), while Its All Guesswork wasn't disgraced behind a subsequent Listed winner in Robin Des Foret at Killarney and he must enter calculations. Easy Worcester scorer Treackle Tart also merits consideration but BRILLARE MOMENTO edges the vote. Local handler Martin Keighley is sure to have the six-year-old fairly wound up for her return from a 170-day break and her game Listed win over Dusky Legend and Verdana Blue here in April represents the best form on offer.

Sceau Royal ticks plenty of boxes in that he was the best of these over hurdles, is a dual course winner and jumped brilliantly when scoring on his chase debut at Warwick (Ballyhill second) earlier in the month. He very much sets the standard but MOVEWITHTHETIMES is open to a lot more improvement with only five career starts under his belt, he was only narrowly beaten in last season's Betfair Hurdle and has always left the impression that he would excel when faced with a fence. North Hill Harvey and Mick Thonic add further spice to what is a cracking event.

The form of Cake de L'Isle's maiden success at Market Rasen looks fairly strong with the second since notching up a double and he might not be badly treated off 127, while Vivas is entitled to improve for his comeback Uttoxeter success and merits consideration representing last year's winning stable. Creep Desbois, Potters Story, Get Home Now and Hallings Comet are just a few more with claims but EATON HILL shades the verdict. Kerry Lee's charge boasts some very strong form, including a victory over the now 145-rated Mount Mews at Wetherby in January, and he potentially looks thrown in off 126 on his handicap debut.

Another competitive novice chase on the card where any of the five in the field have claims for victory. Black Corton has done nothing but improve throughout the summer months and arrives off what was arguably a career best over fences when winning at Newton Abbot a fortnight ago beating Sizing Tennessee, who reopposes here. FAGAN and Beat That both met at Perth in July when the former came out on top and the same looks likely here. Gordon Elliott's grey will benefit more from the stamina test on offer here than when encountering Ballyandy over an inadequate trip at Perth latest. The latter does warrant respect but will need to prove himself on the undulations of the track, while Ballymalin did little wrong on his chase debut at Worcester and possesses some very solid hurdle form to suggest he could improve as a chaser.

Indian Castle is a fascinating contender returning from a 541-day absence with Sam Waley-Cohen booked to take the ride but it wouldn't be the biggest of surprises if he were to be in need of the outing after such a lengthy absence. Sporting Boy was an easy winner at Market Rasen on Saturday and has to be respected if able to handle the quick turnaround and a 7lb penalty. Azure Fly will definitely test his rider's fitness levels having had to be rousted along when winning at Newton Abbot last month, while What Happens Now finished third on that occasion and has the assistance of Derek O'Connor in the saddle. Bugsie Malone may have more to offer from his current mark but Gordon Elliott and Jamie Codd are a formidable pairing and PRESENTING JULIO arrives having bolted up on his latest outing over fences at Killarney and the step back up in trip can eke out further improvement.

Irish raider Cash In Mind has to be respected following his likeable appearance on hurdles debut when second to the highly-touted Roaring Bull, however, this may go the way of Colin Tizzard's SLATE HOUSE. The five-year-old son of Presenting was a 10-length point-to-point winner in November last year and it seems no surprise that jockey Robbie Power would be keen to partner this exciting hurdles newcomer. Dans Le Vent looks capable of getting involved and the form of his Ludlow bumper victory in the spring looks rock solid with the second winning by 55 lengths on his next start.

Talented conditional rider James Bowen links up with Nicky Henderson aboard the Towcester winner Cool Macavity, who sees his 6lb rise nullified by his claimers allowance and arrives here with strong claims. Percy Street should be much fitter for his Chepstow reappearance and is a more than handy second string for the champion trainer, while Dreamcatching was well fancied for the Fred Winter here in March and finished off the season with two confidence-boosting victories. He must be considered and could have the class to carry top weight to success. However, preference is for Brian Ellison's hat-trick-seeking OUR KYLIE, who has impressed in her recent Sedgefield victories. The northern handler never travels south unless he has a live chance and his horses often finish in the frame at this venue.
