MANSHAA sets the standard based on his debut second at Beverley and although he failed to justify favouritism on soft ground over 1m at Newmarket last time, he's given another chance now switched to this easier track on what is expected to be quicker ground. Gabrial The Viking landed minor money over 7f here on debut and may improve for this extra furlong, while Cosmic Ray is improving with each outing and is another to consider.

With only three declared runners, this may well turn into a tactical affair, and having already proven his effectiveness from the front when making all over track and trip when last sighted, BIZZARIO seems the safest call. An opening mark of 80 looks workable for the Mark Johnston inmate, whose yard have won the last two renewals of this race. Guilty is 6lb higher than for his HQ win in July so Redcar maiden winner Mythmaker is feared most.

C&D winner Dr Red Eye is well drawn to attack and is 7lb lower than when winning over C&D in May last year. He does, however, face possible competition for the lead from the likes of Apostle, Lady Frances and Chosen Character. If a disputed gallop materialises, that could tee this up nicely for BEAU NASH, who was beaten by under a length off this mark over the extended 7f here latest and could improve for this slight drop in trip.

ALMASHOOQA is rated 87 on official figures and although he has finished runner-up each of the last three times he has run in maiden company, he gets the vote in the hope this extra furlong can spark enough improvement for him to land an overdue victory. Shama's Song has a bit to find with the selection on these terms but attracted support at Windsor last time while Gabrial's Lady could improve with her debut run behind her and is also shortlisted.

Penalised Goodwood scorer Kashgar commands respect, while English Summer is only 2lb higher than when beating Notarised by a neck over 1m4f here last month and could also figure. Nevertheless, both lack the scope for progression of Sir Mark Prescott's CHARLOTTE'S DAY, who struck over 1m4f on her handicap bow at Wolverhampton and makes strong appeal under a penalty as she's having only her second start beyond 1m today.

Erroneous has been raised 3lb for his short-head victory over this trip at Yarmouth and should remain competitive while Mambo Rhythm commands the utmost respect now turned out under a penalty for his eight length demolition job over 1m4f at Musselburgh last time. Preferred ahead of both, however, is POTENTATE, who stayed on well at the finish when second over 1m at Salisbury last time, hinting this longer trip would be ideal.

My Single Malt has been edged up 2lb for his recent course third, putting him 6lb higher than for his C&D victory in July. Marginal preference is therefore for RALPHY BOY, who has been knocking hard on the door over a variety of distances in recent months and is also well drawn. There is likely better to come from Brighton Mile winner Mime Dance, while Lunar Deity has dropped to a fair mark and offered a little bit more when third at Epsom last time.
