DEB'S DELIGHT was an impressive winner on his racecourse debut at Carlisle last month and he is the one to beat once again, despite having to carry a 6lb penalty for that success. Huboor confirmed the promise she displayed on her first taste of competitive action by getting the job done at Chepstow in July and she is an obvious threat to the selection. Sheung Wan merits a market inspection.

All of these have claims but preference is for BEN VRACKIE, who was only narrowly denied in the Duke Of Edinburgh at Royal Ascot off a mark of 104 earlier in the season. He was not disgraced in the Ebor last time out off a 4lb higher figure and he arguably sets the standard. Manuela De Vega stays well and she should not be underestimated, while Durston is best of the rest.

The nod goes to MANCINI, who can be hard to peg back when getting to the front and he remains just 2lb higher in the ratings than when winning at York in July. Fun Mac failed to fire at Glorious Goodwood last time out but he is a player based on his previous form. Diocletian and Celestial Force are others who could make the frame.

In a competitive event, nursery debutant HOT HEELS shades the verdict for local handler Tom Dascombe, who won this race in 2017. The first-time gelding showed he handles the Roodee when runner-up over C&D two starts ago, and a mark of 77 might underestimate his ability. Raahy is fitted with a visor as he drops down the class ladder and shouldn't be too far away, while Praxeology has his sights lowered following a couple of stiff assignments.

Tim Easterby claimed this prize 12 months ago and has a solid chance again with dual course winner BOSSIPOP, who is just 2lb higher than when beaten a nose over 5 1/2f here most recently. Captain Jameson and Gabrial The Devil finished third and fourth respectively in a decent handicap at Haydock and both arrive with a chance, although the bigger threat might be Seen The Lyte, who is 4lb better off with Bossipop for a two-length beating last time.

SPIRIT WARNING only beat one rival home at York, when struggling under a penalty, but the son of Charm Spirit had been very consistent prior to that effort and boasts course form, having placed at the May meeting. He is only 1lb higher than his success at Windsor on his penultimate appearance and can make amends at the expense of Humble Gratitude, who wasn't disgraced here in a stronger race last time, and Haydock winner Mickey.

BIT OF A QUIRKE can be forgiven his most recent display when tailed off at Pontefract at the end of July as he had been very consistent on his outings prior. Mark Walford's gelding, a winner at Beverley in June, has an ideal draw in stall four and can bounce back to form. Garden Oasis has been running well of late at Ripon and, along with C&D winner Medalla De Oro, can pose a solid threat.
