ELIAN (1), a runner-up at Craon recently, should confirm that promise, provided he avoids the second-run-after-a-break syndrome. GANAGO (5) is partnered by the in-form Edgar Labaisse and won at course on his only previous visit to Dax. JIRAIS AU BALLE (6) also makes the trip with realistic ambitions.

The Lageneste-Macaire partnership looks to hold the key to this lucky last race handicap, with AQPS MILORD DE PALMA (7) having possibly developed a taste for winning. BAR A TOUS (2) is another leading contender, having finished second to an unbeaten rival in his penultimate start. If in the mood, HEART AND SOUL (8) can play a leading role from this weight. MELCASTILLE (1) is still inexperienced over fences and should not be judged on her recent failure over the larger obstacles.
