Punters are faced with the choice of the fair form from the exposed maidens Proud McKee and Blazing Buddha or giving a long look to the lightly raced and unraced horses. As consistent maidens are often overbet the latter approach looks prudent with Trustworthy and Country Place the choices. TRUSTWORTHY was too green to do himself justice on debut but now races with blinkers added and may be a different horse second time at the races. Country Place debuts for a barn very capable with firsters and although his future may be over longer distances this is not a hot maiden.
You can often rely on trainer Mike Trombetta to have his two year olds ready at first asking and that makes LISTENTOTHEWINDBLO of interest here. She is from a productive family and sports a satisfactory work tab at the trainers Maryland base. Samantha's Strike has been rested since a poor effort as the favourite after showing promise on her second start. She is now offered for sale for the first time. Go Go Grande is one of two Larry Jones trained fillies here but debuts without lasix and has the rail draw which can be a massive negative for a debutant.
JENAY BENAY makes often the most meaningful drop in racing, from maiden special weights into a maiden claimer. Her two efforts, a runner up and a fourth placed effort at the higher level read well in the context of what looks a weak event. Tapem M has blinkers added and has her claiming price cut in half after showing some speed before fading on debut. She may improve and a top jockey now takes the ride. Strut the Canary isn't bred for sprinting and the fact that she debuts in a claimer is a concern.
CARPINTERO makes his local debut for a new barn after some solid efforts in South Florida. He has form sprinting and may be overlooked a little in the market as his last race was a shocker. Deputy's Honor also comes back to the track after a dull effort. He now races for the bang in form Scott Lake barn. Fiesta Texas is a contender on or near the pace. His chance increase greatly if either speedsters Case Law or Fox in the Box are scratched.
STEADY PLAY drops into the claiming ranks after two even efforts over sprint distances in maiden special weight races. The daughter of Aldebaran is from a family of routers and the extra distance and class relief make her of interest. Truly Divine is back with her 'friends' after an attempt in a straight maiden. Her runner up effort at The Meadowlands sets the standard here. It would be no surprise if a first time starter won this race and Include Us All and Marciannie both debut for top barns.
What a difference a claim makes. SECRETMADEMOISELL looked a filly of only limited potential at best until the move to the Tony Dutrow barn. Since then she has won straight races in impression fashion. This is her toughest test to date but the way she beat lesser last time suggests she has not stopped improving yet. Star of Idabel has won five times this year and this is an easier spot than her last two races. There is no better trainer of fillies than Larry Jones and the rested Royal Diana has to be respected for that fact alone.
