Guertino was well supported ahead of his debut last month and is likely to be capable of better than he showed that day. However, perhaps the best form on offer comes from TAURIAN who dead-heated for fifth at Beverley on his debut. The one that finished alongside him that day boosted the form by winning at Catterick earlier in the week and he is bound to show the benefits of that initial experience now. Fitzroy Crossing is a newcomer to consider.

DISPOL ISLE did well to defy a lengthy absence when a decisive scorer on her seasonal return latest and is taken to follow-up off a 6lb higher mark. David Barron has taken the last two runnings of this contest and the yard's horses remain in good order, while fast underfoot conditions should be ideal. Anthemion and Jordans Elect are others worthy of a mention.

BEAUMONT BOY has shown enough in his five career starts to suggest a race of this nature is within his compass and Alan Swinbank's charge can take advantage of the marked drop in class. He is the highest rated of this field and is readily preferred to both Denton Hawk and Jewelled Dagger.

OSOLOMIO won in the style of an improving sort when landing the odds in grand style at Thirsk in April and, although an 8lb rise makes life tougher, he should be up to defying his new mark with a similar performance. A step up in trip isn't a concern as he went close over a similar distance at Haydock last term and has always saved his best form for on top of the ground. Monlith has claims on the pick of his form, while Grey Outlook is also respected.

Patavian ran in some hot maiden events last term and would have every chance if running up to the form of his Newbury debut. However, he disappointed on his reappearance recently and INASUS is preferred. Mark Johnston's inmate showed signs of greenness when fourth at Beverley last backend but is bred to improve as a 3-y-o and looks to be capable of better now tried over longer trips. Modern Verse appeals most of the remainder.

It can often pay to follow sprinters in form and BRIGADORE fits that description perfectly. The selection made a winning return at Pontefract when getting the better of a useful yardstick and James Given's representative looks capable of going in again despite a 4lb hike. Franksalot may be better over further nowadays, so Cross Of Lorraine and Obe One could mount the biggest challenge.

David Barker does partcularly well with his sprinters and BRUT can add to that good record over his ideal minimum trip. He has dropped in the weights since winning off a 10lb higher mark at Catterick last year and comes here fully tuned-up after a couple of decent efforts in similar contests. In an open race chances are also given to Beamsley Beacon, Champagne Cracker and Jun Fan.
