Bid For Gold hasn't been seen since scoring at Carlisle a year ago but Jedd O'Keeffe's eight-year-old must still be considered closely. CUT THE CACKLE is preferred, however, following her effort over 1m here last week. She gets further than 6f and will take some holding out at the business end, with her mark of 59 seemingly workable at present. Hellbender makes most appeal of the others.

HOPES N DREAMS is improving at a rate of knots for Kevin Ryan and, while forced to shoulder a 6lb penalty for her C&D success last week, she remains 2lb ahead of the handicapper on revised figures and is taken to continue on her upward curve. Julius Geezer was last seen winning a Leicester seller and is respected on his return to the handicap ranks, while a rejuvenated Breezolini is another for the shortlist.

While Emily Hall's Carlisle reappearance is expected to have brought her forward, it is tough to oppose JUST LIKE HEAVEN at the top of the weights following a much improved effort over 5f at Catterick. The gelded son of Kodiac goes back into a handicap off a 2lb lower mark but he sets the standard in what looks a modest affair and should take all the beating. Economic Crisis can also make the frame.

RALEIGH QUAY is dropped slightly in class and recent performances at Catterick and Ripon have suggested he is ready to land a blow. Shane B Kelly keeps the partnership intact, so Micky Hammond's gelding can take full advantage of his 5lb claim and he would appear to have plenty in his favour. Avison remains relatively unexposed for Richard Fahey and is beginning to come to himself at just the right time, while Commander Veejay might be of particular interest to each-way players.

While PENDRAGON's recent form figures are nothing to get excited about, the son of Rahy has been contesting competitive handicaps and Brian Ellison's 83-rated gelding should take all the beating now eased into a seller. His most recent victory came over 1m2f at Ayr, so he will be unfazed by this drop in trip, but keep a close eye on Iulus, who arrives in good heart, and Bella Noir, who looked back to her best at Doncaster latest.

COSMIC HALO needed every yard of the 1m at Ripon when shedding her maiden status last month and, open to stacks of improvement for Richard Fahey, she is taken to follow up, with the step up to the extended 1m1f likely to play to her strengths. Free Art continues to bang the door and shouldn't be far away, while Third Half is beginning to come back to his juvenile form and is another to keep on side.

Seattle Sounder warrants plenty of respect for shrewd connections on his handicap bow under Graham Lee, but SOCIAL RHYTHM can send punters home in front if able to build on her recent Ayr success on quick ground. Garry Whillans takes over in the saddle and his 3lb claim helps to negate a 4lb rise, so this could be a relatively straightforward opportunity, now eased in class. King Of Paradise makes most appeal of the others.
