NAVAL POWER bolted up at this level at Ascot to extend his unbeaten record to three. Charlie Appleby's Teofilo colt could be a juvenile right out of the top drawer and he is fancied to defy his penalty on the way towards much bigger and better things. Lion Of War drops in grade, although he was behind Dark Thirty in the Superlative, and Seeking Gold could be the main danger.

Runner-up on his last three starts, one-time Derby hope Reach For The Moon now sports a first-time visor in an attempt to bounce back to winning ways. However, preference is for his Champagne Stakes conqueror BAYSIDE BOY, who had to settle for fourth on his most recent run in a Group 3 at Glorious Goodwood. He has more than held his own in Group 1s, though, and the application of blinkers could help him get back on track. Royal Hunt Cup hero Dark Shift also merits consideration up in grade.

A case can be made for plenty of these, but INVERNESS finished a fine fourth in the Melrose at York. Charlie Hills' colt was beaten a neck by Adjuvant for third, but was rated 1lb higher than him on that occasion. They now compete off the same rating so the form could be turned around, despite Benoit De La Sayette taking 3lb off Adjuvant. Open Champion is very unexposed and must be feared, along with Tamilla on her return to turf.

Formerly in the care of Sir Michael Stoute, EVALUATION has made great strides for Keith Dalgleish this season, completing his four-timer at Musselburgh in June, before running creditably in the Northumberland Vase. He was then just denied at Sandown and this will require more, but he could be up to the task. The admirable Euchen Glen must feature prominently in calculations, along with Rajinsky, who finished within three lengths of star stayer Trueshan in this year's Northumberland Plate. Others to note are Contact and Reshoun.

Last year's hero Emaraaty Ana showed signs of a return to his best when placed in the Nunthorpe again and he is sure to mount a bold bid. Minzaal (second) and Platinum Jubilee scorer Naval Crown (fifth) met in the Prix Maurice de Gheest and the pair are likely to enter calculations once again, but a chance is taken on the fourth from that contest, ROHAAN. David Evans' four-year-old can be forgiven his latest effort when never in contention behind Kinross over 7f at York but his finishing effort the time before, when perhaps a shade unlucky in France, gives him every chance of landing his first success at the highest level.

Raised 3lb for a narrow defeat at York, ATALIS BAY ought to be in the thick of things once more. Robert Cowell's sprinter has a C&D victory on his CV and having been competitive from similar marks previously, he gets a tentative vote in an open event. Alligator Alley cashed in on a sliding handicap figure at Thirsk on his latest outing and he remains of interest up 7lb. Others to note include Nomadic Empire and Korker.

ALAZWAR showed potential in the NH sphere and has found plenty of improvement for the switch in codes, winning two of his four Flat starts. Archie Watson's charge drops in class after his second in a 0-90 at Ascot and is fancied to regain the winning thread. Gina Mangan's 5lb claim ought to aid the chances of last year's winner Sucellus, while handicap debutant Monteria wasn't far behind the selection at Wolverhampton in the spring. La Trinidad is 2lb below his last winning mark and shouldn't be underestimated either.
