MAGICAL SIGHT has clearly needed plenty of time to develop and has looked a work in progress on both starts to date. He was no match for Existential over an extended mile at Nottingham but there could be a fair amount of improvement to come for the step up to 1m4f in what appears a winnable contest on paper. King Lud disappointed behind Mekong at Chelmsford in a handicap last time over 1m6f but is capable of better, while a gelding operation can see Mazboon take a step forward.

SAN DONATO was considered good enough for a crack at the Chesham on his second start when unplaced behind Arthur Kitt having raced keenly early on. He returns after a 75-day break, and can get off the mark at the third attempt with the return to 6f a positive. Stakeholder caught the eye when fourth on debut at Yarmouth having shaped with a fair amount of promise, while Carlisle winner Hello Youmzain and newcomer Punjab Mail both merit a place on the shortlist.

WALDSTERN made a pleasing start to his career when getting off the mark at the first attempt at Newmarket last month in comfortable fashion. He is a half-brother to Group 1 winner Waldgeist, and is in the right hands to keep on progressing. Kadar comes from the family of Kalanisi and cost 700,000 euros at the Arqana Breeze-Up in May and represents Karl Burke, who has done well with his juveniles this season, while Frankadore represents connections who have a strong record at the track so any market support should be noted.

PARYS MOUNTAIN ran a big race when a close-up third at Redcar last month, and a similarly aggressive ride can see the four-year-old get back to winning ways for the first time since June. This mile distance seems to suit best, and he can account for Woody Bay, who has won two of his last three but has a 10lb rise to contend with under James Doyle, and Mon Beau Visage, who returned to form at Thirsk recently.

SO BELOVED has found Group company too hot to handle in recent times, and looks poised to return to winning ways now with his sights lowered significantly. The past course winner has been deemed good enough to run in the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood and City Of York Stakes of late and should prove too strong for Speculative Bid, who returns after a 264-day absence, and Salateen, who ran a big race in handicap company at Chelmsford just five days ago.

Stargazer was well fancied for the Chester Cup but was found to be lame in his right-hind after finishing seventh. It will be interesting to see if the money is down for him on his return from a break as he is weighted to win such contests. On the back of his Newmarket second over this trip last month, however, HUGE FUTURE shades the vote for win purposes. Thriving hat-trick seeker Magellan has been in great order at Kempton and could also take a hand if transferring that form onto turf.

MULTELLIE has winning C&D form in the book and advertised his well-being with a solid performance from the front at Hamilton last time. Tim Easterby's charge was beaten by under a length into second that day, pulled five lengths clear of the rest of the field and remains in good order. Dwight D found 1m1f on the sharp side at Carlisle last time and could play a supporting role, likewise Thorntoun Care, who struck off 2lb lower at Ayr in June.
