MIKMAK ran well in defeat once again when third in the Summer Cup at Thirsk seven days ago and the versatile six-year-old is fancied to run another big race off an unchanged mark of 82. Likely to be ridden prominent once more, he makes greater appeal than Helovaplan, who was second at Beverley last month on his first outing since April, and Club Wexford, who was just touched off at Chester recently.
CLUB WEXFORD was only narrowly denied off this mark at Chester last weekend and Roger Fell's thriving 8-y-o looks to have plenty going for him from a handy inside draw. French recruit Young Fire is an interesting contender on his first run for David O'Meara, particularly if the market speaks in his favour. ADDEYBB lost out to Elarqam at York two weeks ago in a Group 2 despite beating that rival in the Wolferton at Ascot, but he was 3lb worse off on the Knavesmire and can probably be forgiven that defeat. This represents a drop in class and the forecast rain will really play into his hands. Wissahickon landed the Cambridgeshire last September and looked progressive prior to getting thumped by Matterhorn at Lingfield over Easter, though he has enjoyed a break since and could easily bounce back. LAST EMPIRE arrives on a hat-trick after rattling off two 6f victories at Hamilton and remains open to plenty more improvement on her fourth career outing. Antagonize drops down from Listed level on his first start since April and remains open to improvement. Others to consider are Baby Steps, who went close at Pontefract on Wednesday, and Gymkhana, a 6f winner who has generally raced over further for David O'Meara since arriving from Ireland.

VEE MAN TEN was headed in the final strides when finishing a neck second in newly-fitted cheekpieces at Doncaster last week and if the retained headgear has the desired effect again, compensation may be in the offing. Red Stripes was far from disgraced when third from out of the handicap at Pontefract earlier in the week and has viable place claims, while Bahuta Acha has been knocking on the door lately and wouldn't be winning out of turn.
VEE MAN TEN reacted well to cheekpieces when runner-up at Doncaster a week ago and with a 7 lb apprentice taking over on this uncomplicated ride, he's a very appealing candidate. KAPONO was touched off by a neck over this trip at York last time out and arguably made his move a fraction too early in the finish. If held on to for a little longer this time, Roger Fell's charge may be able to gain compensation, despite his 4lb rise in the ratings. Gabrial The Wire has solid claims now returned to 7f, while the thriving Wise Counsel also commands respect after dead-heating for victory at Sandown in June.
KAPONO shaped like the best horse at the weights and arguably just made his effort a shade sooner than ideal when worn down late on at York last month. He's worth chancing to confirm the promise of that run. Gabrial The Wire back at 7f and the low-mileage Wise Counsel head up the dangers.
