RED OAK's fourth at Newbury last time reads particularly well as the winner of that contest landed a Grade 1 at Aintree on Friday and the return to novice company can see him back to winning ways. Blues Singer looks the strongest threat based on his Huntingdon victory last month but his jumping can be a bit haphazard at times. Imperfectlyperfect heads the remainder.
Not much of a race and it can go to RED OAK, who having struggled in a Grade 2 at Kelso two starts back, returned to form when fourth in a Newbury handicap last time. There's a suspicion he's better than that as well and he can get the better of Blues Singer, who got off the mark in good style at Huntingdon last time and represents a stable in form. Hurlyburly showed promise in bumpers, finishing runner-up at Haydock last time, and brings some potential to hurdles.

It seems significant that Nicky Richards sends YOUNG GETAWAY over fences this late in the season as the seven-year-old's last appearance came at this meeting 12 months ago. He was a consistent type over hurdles and gave the impression that going chasing would bring out the best in him. The drop back in trip appears to be the right move for Heads Or Harps, while Royal Deeside completes the shortlist.
It might be worth chancing the top one YOUNG GETAWAY, who is returning from a year off having run well in the novice on this card 12 months ago. Although fitness is a potential worry, he makes his chasing debut for a top yard and has the most potential of these. Royal Deeside is a solid alternative, having run well in defeat at Haydock last time. He's a former course winner as well. Heads Or Harps is third choice. He remains 8lb above his last win mark but is consistent.

JAMESIECONN is currently in the form of his life and the seven-year-old may prove a tough nut to crack in his attempt to make it four wins on the bounce. Streamsforth Lad comes with risks attached but got round when runner-up at Bangor at the end of last month and would be a threat if his jumping stands up. Others to note are Dr Shirocco and Redeeming Love.
Lots of runners but it could be worth sticking with JAMESIECONN, who is on a four-timer and might be able to overcome a 5lb rise. He impressed with his attitude at Carlisle last time and should come up the hill well here with his having proven stamina for further. Redeeming Love is coming off an improved effort at Southwell and might have more to offer still over fences given she has point experience. DIVILABOTHER is a model of consistency and gets the nod on that basis. A smooth C&D winner last summer, the eight-year-old has held his form well since and comes in here fresh. Asa has race-fitness on her side and is interesting reverting to timber for this assignment, while it would be no surprise if Party In The Park went well.
He was found wanting for pace on his handicap debut at Newcastle but PARTY IN THE PARK was placed in points and the step up in trip could unlock major improvement now. GARDENER looks the obvious place to start in division two of this handicap hurdle as he probably won more cosily over C&D last month than the winning distance suggests. This slightly sounder surface shouldn't be a problem for him and the veteran gets the nod ahead of Kool Raoul and Our Laura B, who is expected to get a bit closer to the selection this time.
Not much of a race and it could go to KOOL RAOUL, who hasn't hit it off yet in handicaps but has been having too much use made of him. He showed plenty in maiden hurdles and now gets cheekpieces for the first time, which could act as catalyst for improvement. The danger looks to be Gardener, who showed a good attitutde here last time and should put up another bold display off 4lb higher. Wise Move failed to give his running last time but is consisdered on earlier efforts and could bounce back. He's third choice.

WHATDEAWANT has been performing well in the point-to-point sphere and makes plenty of appeal back under Rules for this assignment in hunter chase company. He represents a top yard and is taken to very close. Nassalam won the Welsh Grand National in 2023 and has to be taken seriously, while Potters Party and Brandy Mcqueen also need considering for this.
Settle Down Jill must have a chance if building on her latest Carlisle run, but WHATDEAWANT has won three of his last four starts in points and returns to rules making a fair bit of appeal. He had lots of smart form to his name for Willie Mullins earlier in his career and is fancied to take this ahead of Potters Party, who has shown some promise in points of late himself and now gets a new headgear combo. Nassalam is a wildcard on this hunter chase debut as he hasn't completed a race since April 2024. Perhaps the less competitive nature of these races and switch of yard will suit.

Point-to-point second AR AIS ARIS fetched 60,000 pounds at the sales in November and appears to have all the credentials required to make a winning Rules bow. Gaelic Heather also arrives having filled the runner-up spot between the flags when last seen and must be respected, along with Blue Skies Ahead, who could step forward from a satisfactory Uttoxeter effort.
Moorhead is of some interest having shaped well in a point bumper on debut, but AR AIS ARIS brings point form himself, having finished runner-up in a 3m maiden event back in November, and he's joined a top stable. He can get off to a winning start under rules, although Blue Skies Ahead is surely capable of better having looked in need of the run and lacked pace on his bumper debut at Uttoxeter. He landed a point previously and is capable of better.
