Berkshire Regal didn't improve from his debut effort when fifth at Doncaster and he might have to play a minor role once again. Al Sham boasts an excellent pedigree, with his dam a half-sister to Derby/King George winner Adayar, and has to go on the shortlist but the vote is handed to SPARTAN. His price from Tattersalls Book 1 increased when sold for 280,000 euros at the Arqana Breeze-Ups in May and his yard has been going particularly well with juveniles of late.
Berkshire Regal sets the standard on his Lingfield debut second and the return to AW should very much be in his favour, but there are several appealing newcomers, especially MASAI LAND, who is related to some good winners for the same owner, including Theory Of Tides a smart handicapper. Spartan shares ownership with the selection and the son of Too Darn Hot is very much one to monitor in the betting - his top yard tend to farm maiden and novice events at this time of year. Shareek is another newcomer to take note of for his respected yard.

BOFA BEACH ran with plenty of credit on her UK debut when runner-up over C&D 12 days ago and the daughter of Kameko has a solid opportunity to go one better. Unionville didn't get the rub of the green on his first attempt over a mile when third here and has every chance of reversing the form with Berkshire Boom. Others for the shortlist include Footstepinthewoods and Chelio.
Wind Summer is coming off a C&D success and surely has more to offer so should again go well, while Unionville is in good form and boasts a course win over 7f. He ran well when placed over this C&D last time and should again be thereabouts, but it's BOFA BEACH who is the selection. The fact William Buick partners NOBLE JOURNEY instead of stable companion Pursuit Of Love has to be significant, especially given the fact he returns from almost a year off the track. The son of Frankel won on his second outing at Chelmsford and is bred to improve again for stepping up in trip. Pursuit Of Love has been gelded and looks the main threat, while Allaire is expected to be in the mix but does have something to prove after being turned over at Leicester.
Allaire has already shown a decent level and might improve for the longer trip, but it's probably best to concentrate on the Godolphin pair with NOBLE JOURNEY taken to make a winning return from 12 months off under William Buick. He converted an easy opening over 10f at Chelmsford when last seen and retains loads of potential. Pursuit Of Love came up short under a penalty at Haydock, but had looked good at Southwell on debut and rates the danger under Conor Planas.

SAX AVOIDANCE backed up her handicap debut success over 1m2f at Salisbury by following up over C&D and is probably yet to reach her ceiling off 4lb higher. A likely pace angle, the Charlie Pike-trained filly could be tough to overhaul in her current form. Extraterrestrial filled the runner-up berth behind the selection three weeks ago and has a feasible chance of turning the form around with a 1lb pull. Track-and-trip scorer Katalyst and St Hilda are reasonable alternatives.
This looks competitive. A much better effort from Sea Brave wouldn't surprise now handicapping upped in trip, while Sax Avoidance is very solid having won back-to-back, including over C&D last time. She could still be on a good mark, but it's FAHIDI who appeals most for Andrew Balding. He showed plenty in maiden and novice events and, although disappointing on May's handicap debut, he's been gelded since and could return an improved model.

FROM THE HIP has winning form here and is worth another chance now he has topped up his match-fitness. A C&D winner last November, the low-mileage three-year-old may provide a bit of value in a wide-open sprint handicap. Moving Force and Goldwork are dangerous to rule out based on recent efforts, while Pixie Diva handles Polytrack and must not be underestimated.
Moving Force is a rock-solid performer in Class 4 handicaps on the AW, so he should again be thereabouts, but the 3yo SPARKSMITH could still have more to offer and he returns from a break newly gelded and dropping in grade from a Class 2 to Class 4. He still looks on a reasonable mark and can get the better of these. Em Four had excuses last time is usually consistent and looks a player as a former C&D scorer.

MESAAFI is versatile with regards to how a race is run and is an appealing option off 1lb below his last winning mark. Similar comments apply to Tyger Bay, who only went up 2lb for his surprise Yarmouth success and again looks a key player. A strong case can also stated for Buccabay, who had the selection back in fourth when he won over C&D last December, although his recent form has been patchy and a revival is needed.
French Affair has been most progressive of late on turf, running well in some really competitive handicaps, and he should again be thereabouts with cheekpieces now tried, but BUCCABAY appeals more back at the scene of his most recent success in Decemeber. He's actually 2lb lower now and will appreciate the return to an AW surface. Mesaafi is considered as well with the step back up to 6f in his favour.

TWITCH delivered on a couple of promising efforts when he landed a similar event at Wolverhampton and is capable of being on the premises again if a 6lb rise doesn't anchor the revival. Having won back-to-back races on Polytrack in the past, there are solid foundations for keeping the faith here. Kondratiev Wave is consistent at this sort of level and can make a good fist of things off a competitive mark. Ajrad has also been cut some slack and is dangerous to underestimate.
Twitch received a good race when winning last time, but he did score with plenty in hand and looks an obvious contender once more here. He is a 9yo, though, so is hardly improving and it might pay to look elsewhere. Fellow 9yo Kondratiev Wave is a former course winner who has been in decent form on turf and he should again be thereabouts, but it's PICKERING CASTLE who is the selection. He was a winner at Yarmouth two starts back and is open to a little more improvement than some in the field.

RIDGER got off the mark in style at Wolverhampton last week and the manner of that performance suggested he could easily follow up under a 6lb penalty. Creciente was in good form prior to her latest effort at Lingfield and it wouldn't be a huge surprise if she bounced back on this occasion. Arc La Shari showed a bit more on her first run after a wind operation at Southwell and the handicapper may have been kind to drop her 4lb.
There should be more to come from RIDGER, who was getting off the mark with something to spare at Wolverhampton the other day and may well be up to defy a penalty in what looks another pretty weak handicap. Creciente wasn't seen to best effect last time but is a player on earlier form. He's the danger ahead of Poetic Grace who returned to form when a 40-1 fourth at Lingfield last time.

Currumbin has been knocking on the door over a variety of distances in recent weeks and is turned out quickly following his latest second at Wolverhampton. The consistent Mrembo is another with strong credentials having filled the runner-up berth at Epsom last time, but a chance is taken with SUPER HIT. James Owen's gelding took a step in the right direction when second here and the five-year-old can go one better off the same mark.
Mrembo did well at Epsom last time considering she recovered from losing her position early and should again go well back on AW, while the consistent Currumbin should again go well off a competitive mark but it's LUCY THE WIRE who is the selection. She was better than the result on her handicap debut at Southwell and the return to 12f here should very much work in her favour - the winning hurdler ran really well in a C&D novice on her second Flat outing.
