PIKE CORNER CROSS has really turned a corner in recent weeks and looks capable of following up his last-start C&D success off a 5lb higher mark. Barrsbrook bounced back to form at Brighton, making it four runner-up efforts from his last five starts, and he warrants respect with a first-time visor equipped, while Red Gunner merits shortlist inclusion following a string of solid performances.

JAHBATH stepped up on his narrow debut defeat when scoring easily over C&D and, with further improvement on the cards, he will be well fancied to complete the double. Ours Puissant won by even further over this track and trip last time out and he is an obvious danger, while Tammooz and Spice Of Life are both respected newcomers representing powerful connections.

NIVALDO made a big impression when scoring on his debut over this trip at Ffos Las and with the second since franking that form with a win, he can make it two from two. Oliveto was only narrowly denied first time out at Wolverhampton and is likely to be in the shake-up again, while Originaire and Silent Hunter should be able to win races of this nature further down the line.

PURGATORY wasn't beaten far on his nursery debut in a similar C&D event and a subsequent 1lb rise won't be enough to stop him going close again. In The Cove has been getting closer to the target in recent weeks and is unlikely to be far away at the finish here, while Torolight merits consideration following his third-placed effort at Leicester. He is now 2lb lower with Adam Kirby doing the steering.

BALTIC PRINCE has been in cracking form, winning two of his last three starts, and with a 3lb rise for the latest of those at Wolverhampton deemed lenient, he might be able to find the target again. Other last-time-out winner Dollar Value must enter calculations, while the unexposed Angel Islington is worth a market check at least on her return from a 457-day layoff.

KAMRA has done little wrong in three starts since joining Henry Spiller, winning either side of a narrow C&D defeat, and he rates the one to beat despite a further 2lb rise. Lady Dancealot is a wonderfully consistent filly and should run a big race under Gerald Mosse, who was on board for her latest success at Goodwood in September, while two-time juvenile winner Golden Salute merits consideration on her return from an absence.

This looks a good opportunity for Mark Johnston's 66-rated THE LAST DEBUTANTE, who ran right up to his best when three-parts of a length second at Wolverhampton last time and she will benefit from Oliver Stammers taking 7lb off her back tonight. Rahmah has been performing well on turf and is entitled to go close on his all-weather return, with Alcanar and Pollyissimo others for the shortlist.

Landue looks to have an obvious chance having won four of his last five appearances, while Ascot Day has to be considered switching back to the all-weather following solid win and placed efforts on turf. However, preference is for the less exposed SUNDAY PROSPECT, who won nicely on his handicap debut over 1m2f at Leicester and could improve further for stretching out in distance.
