Juan Horsepower has had plenty of chances now but he ran well for second at Haydock when last seen in the summer, while Kingofmerrows had been knocking hard on the door before fluffing his lines badly at Newcastle last time and remains capable of better. Saluti only narrowly missed out over C&D last time and is another to consider but it might be worth taking a chance on CAPTAIN PUGWASH, who caught the eye when flashing home for fifth on his debut over 7f at this track last month. Newcomers Milburn Jack and Medahim might also be worth noting.

Sparkle made a promising handicap debut when only beaten half a length into third at Lingfield last month but the handicapper has quickly stepped in with a 3lb rise, while Emenem needs to prove himself as effective over this shorter trip having finished second over a mile here last time. Widnes and Sadhbh are other potential improvers to consider but POBBLES caught the eye when fifth at Chelmsford, as she did here previously, and it will be disappointing if she doesn't prove better than an opening handicap mark of 71.

Lorikeet looks the obvious starting point following solid offerings the last twice. However, his official rating of 72 hardly sets an insurmountable standard for the rest to aim at and he comes up against a number of well-bred newcomers. Footman, Beyond Recall and Opinionate represent the sire Cacique and are certainly worth considering, while Richard Hannon's Son Of The Stars and Glassalt also warrant close inspection. However, the eye is immediately drawn to Frankel colt MIKEY READY, who is well drawn and has the services of Luke Morris for his racecourse debut.

INTERMODAL was well backed prior to his Lingfield debut last month and although failing to justify favouritism on that occasion, he still shaped with plenty of promise to be beaten under a length in fifth. Entitled to have learnt plenty from that initial experience and drawn on stall one here, he looks worth sticking with. Sir Michael Stoute takes the wraps off So You Think filly Button Up and she is worth noting along with fellow newcomers Bessemer Lady and Makaarim.

GAMRAH made a debut full of promise when finishing fourth at Wolverhampton in August and natural improvement makes her a big player in a race of this nature. James Tate has found his filly a real opening and although she must concede experience to Senses Of Dubai, it would come as no surprise if she had the beating of the 71-rated Royal Applause gelding getting weight. New Signal is also noted.

GARTER is evidently on good terms with herself at the moment and this progressive C&D winner ticks plenty of boxes. The daughter of Fastnet Rock bumped into the in-form For Shia And Lula at Chelmsford on her penultimate start and got back to winning ways in good style at Lingfield last time. She could still have something in hand off a mark of 63 and gets a confident vote to see off the likes of Fire Diamond and Music Major.

The eye is immediately drawn to the unexposed profile of TOWERLANDS PARK and if ready to roll following a 364-day absence (he won the 1m maiden on this card 12 months ago), a big run is anticipated. The son of Danehill Dancer has clearly had his problems, but he shaped with plenty of promise as a juvenile, most notably when finishing a close-up fourth behind Midterm in a Newbury maiden, and could be well treated off a mark of 83. Getting his weight-for-age allowance in this handicap, he could prove too good for the likes of Inniscastle Lad, Foresee and Alcatraz.

TIMEKEEPING won a maiden in good style over 1m4f at Pontefract on his penultimate start and although he was beaten at even-money in a handicap here three weeks ago, Saeed bin Suroor's charge gave the impression he would thrive going up in trip and, given his unexposed profile, the New Approach colt is worth another look. Wolf Of Windlesham will be no pushover, though, given he's a Grade 2 winner over hurdles, while Alberta and Bracken Brae add further spice to the race.
