CRASSUS has the beating of At War on their form at Punchestown. Crassus finished runner-up behind Duffle Coat (who has since gone in again) while At War was more than 35 lengths further back in eighth. In addition, Crassus was well clear of the third horse who then won well at Punchestown last Tuesday. At War has faced a tough task in his first couple of three-year-old hurdles when unplaced in the aforementioned race at Punchestown and third to Longclaw in Listowel. The winners of both of those races are more than promising types. The Listowel effort was certainly a step in the right direction, though, and he now sports a first-time hood. On Guard has to be respected on first start for Gordon Elliott having won on the Flat at Yarmouth for John Gosden. He was then thought good enough to run in the Group 2 Queen's Vase at Royal Ascot where he failed to land a blow.

ERINS BENEFIT should be all the better for her first crack at hurdling when third in Listowel. The Beneficial mare trounced her rivals in a ladies' bumper on testing ground at Bellewstown in August. She was then pitched into a mares' maiden hurdle at Listowel and moved through the field before a mistake at the second last saw her effort peter out. One of her main rivals in this assignment, Walking Fame, was six lengths behind her in fourth in that Listowel race. She is also a bumper winner, from Downpatrick last month. The daughter of Fame And Glory has had three goes at hurdling and there is no obvious reason why she should turn around the form. Perhaps Class Bishop Lady will be a bigger threat on jumping debut. She started her career with a third in a good mares' bumper at Down Royal and was then a beaten favourite in third in a Tramore bumper.

A tricky puzzle. Cousin Harry has the ability to land a blow, particularly with James O'Sullivan claiming 7lb from him. He travelled well in his last race at Listowel before finishing third. That was a better-class contest, so it is reasonable to expect him to get in the mix. He has each-way claims. SANI PASS has much more upside than most. She has only had four outings and has taken the runner-up berth twice. She can be competitive off a mark of 95 in her first handicap. Ashton Court has finished runner-up in three of his last four races, so wouldn't be winning out of turn. He is a long-standing maiden but this is a fair opportunity for him. Heliers Bay, in the first-time cheekpieces, wasn't far behind Ashton Court in third at Roscommon. She won a handicap hurdle at Ballinrobe in August and has valid claims.

FLEMINGS DREAM was behind Friary Rock when the pair filled the second and third positions following home Metal Man at Kilbeggan 24 days back, but Ray Cody's mare may reverse form now. The pair are back in trip, though this extended two and three quarter miler is still going to take plenty of getting. Surprisingly after winning at Kilbeggan in August, Flemings Dream didn't seem to be in love with the County Westmeath venue last time. That may have been more to do with the slow early pace than anything else. She looked a very nice sort prior to that, and going left-handed might be what she wants. There are few if any of these that you'd safely put a line through. Dysart Diamond will justifiably have her supporters. She probably likes better ground, and Gavin Cromwell's pair, Western Run and Oscar Thyne, are others that can make an impression.

Delirious Love had been declared at Gowran on Saturday but he didn't make the line-up from his place among the reserves. The likes of Dazzling Darren and Ruinous have been providing owner Darren Cahill with plenty of enjoyment and he begins with Delirious Love now, after a purchase of the Definite Article gelding in July. It'll be interesting to see if there is any market confidence behind the eight-year-old. Gavin Cromwell has booked Conor McNamara for the spin. Not So Simple is going the right way after recent second placings. The safest choice might be CAPTURE THE ACTION though. The trip is much longer and the ground much softer but she'll likely make a bold bid to follow up on Friday's Gowran success. It's never a bad idea to be with a mare in form like her.

FELIX DESJY is a fair sight when in full flow, as he showed again in a Navan two mile Flat maiden in July. That race was effectively over from an early stage, and his rivals never got a sniff of the strong galloping front-runner. For whatever reason he didn't get away the way Keith Donoghue would have liked in the Galway Hurdle, and ended up falling at the second. The chestnut was subsequently found to have blood at the nostrils, possibly as a result of the tumble. Hopefully Felix Desjy is well recovered now from that unfortunate late July experience. He could be very good at this game and it should be remembered that he really impressed in a point-to-point for Eddie Hales, under Declan Queally, at Dromahane in March 2017. Le Musigny and Raya Time give Henry de Bromhead strong prospects of taking a major share of the prize fund.

ISLAND MASTER won over slightly further at this venue last summer and the veteran can record a fourth career win over fences. He didn't run badly when staying on for fifth at Tramore when last seen in August, and his trainer has reported that he's best off a break, so he should be primed for this contest. Former point-to-point winner Different Spot was having his first race over fences in over a year when a creditable third at Listowel and he can come forward from that, while Railway Muice has been consistent in handicap chases over the summer and shouldn't be far away again. Weihnachts (declared to run at Tipperary on Sunday) ran well after a layoff at Galway and would have to be considered if taking up this engagement.

ASK CORY was placed a couple of times for Colin McBratney including a fair third in a handicap at Navan back in January. He's run OK in his first two starts for Henry de Bromhead and, back in beginners' company and with two runs under his belt after a layoff, should be plugging on well up the straight. The selection was a place behind Cushinstown Finest at Downpatrick and the time before at Wexford and the latter, not beaten far at all on any of her last four starts, should be thereabouts again. Twice second in handicap hurdles this summer, Pat Coyne is of interest on chase debut but fair hurdler Offshore Oscar will need to jump better than he did at Listowel. Thisonesforollie has been runner-up twice over fences, and has plenty of experience to draw upon, but needs to find a bit more to win.
