Alpine Eagle has shown a decent level of ability over hurdles and is respected on his first try over fences but SOUNDS OF JUPITER has enjoyed a couple of runs in this sphere already and is narrowly preferred with the benefit of that experience behind him. Goban Saor needs to better his hurdles efforts to trouble the principals today but is likely to make a better chaser and warrants respect now tackling fences for the first time.

HAROLD'S CROSS had a recent run over hurdles to tune up his fitness and gets the vote now moving back over the larger obstacles to make his handicap debut in this sphere. Mantell is 2lb higher than when second at Cork over 2m on his penultimate start and has since fared respectably in a competitive hurdles event and is unlikely to be far away again. Rakamasi brings plenty of experience to the table and is another to consider.

Mossey Joe ran well in a Grade 2 novice hurdle at Punchestown earlier this month to advertise his well being and, along with Ainama, another who has shown ability over timber, is afforded plenty of respect now switching his attention to fences. However, COTTAGE OAK gets the vote after an impressive chase debut at Down Royal earlier in the month, a race in which he demonstrated solid jumping and was eased down to score.

GATAMALATA has been highly tried of late and should find this assignment somewhat easier than the 1,000 Guineas Trial (won by Empowering) she contested at Leopardstown last time. If running to anything like her mark she should take all of the beating here. Free Art found 7f on the sharp side last time and is expected to relish this longer trip. Betrothed showed up very well on her reappearance when second at the Curragh and is another to consider.

EL TOREROS is likely to benefit from this step up in trip having been outpaced over 7f on his handicap debut last time and gets the vote now allowed to race off the same mark once again before his revised rating (due to be raised 3lb) kicks in. Spin Of A Coin ran his best race to date over a mile at Gowran last time and a 3lb rise is unlikely to prevent another bold bid. Balladiene is turned out under a penalty for his recent win at Gowran and is another to consider.

20:20 Killarney (IRE) (4YO plus)

FAIRY WING seems to be coming to hand and a reproduction of his recent third at Dundalk should seem him go close again in what appears a moderate handicap. Via Mia is up 7lb for her victory at Naas at the weekend but is unexposed over this longer trip and may be capable of following up. The dependable Bricks And Porter has no place to hide from the handicapper but was a credible third from 4lb out of the weights at Gowran last time and warrants consideration now back within the handicap proper.

Syann needs to improve plenty for the step up in trip if she is to better her recent efforts but that is far from guaranteed and it should pay to side with SENSE OF PURPOSE. Dermot Weld's filly made an uninspiring comeback at Navan last month but if able to recapture her 2010 form (when she was twice placed in listed company) would take all of the beating here. Run For Sol hasn't been seen on the Flat for three years but has been in good form over hurdles in the meantime and is another to consider.
