YOUNG LIEUTENANT was held in a Listed contest at Haydock last time but makes more appeal on his preceding second at Newbury and could benefit from this drop back down in grade. Soldier To Follow won on the Flat for Andrew Balding but needs to bounce back from a tired fall at Fontwell on Boxing Day now having his second run for a new stable. Any money for the returning Baboin, who debuts for Tim Vaughan, would also be notable.
YOUNG LIEUTENANT very much looks the one to beat now returning to calmer waters after shaping better than the result in a Haydock listed event last time, so he's the obvious choice. Solider To Follow was in the process of running an encouraging first race over hurdles when falling 2 out at Fontwell and he could be the one to provide the main threat if none the worse.

FLAMINGER backed up his 18-length victory at Plumpton with another comfortable success over 2m2f at Fontwell last time and is expected to take a 6lb rise in his stride to complete a hat-trick. Recent Chepstow second The Gipper returns on the same mark and has viable place claims in a competitive heat, as does C&D winner Finnegan's Garden. Robin Des Mana is rated 5lb higher than for his distance win at Ffos Las in November but cannot be ruled out either.
The hat-trick beckons for FLAMINGER, who supplemented his facile Plumpton success with a decisive display at Fontwell 18 days ago. It's unlikely that a 6 lb rise will be enough to anchor him, particularly given his potential for further improvement over fences. The Gipper is preferred to Finnegan's Garden for forecast purposes.

FLIGHT TO MILAN was touched off by less than a length off this mark over 2m at Leicester in December but he was keeping on in the closing stages and could gain compensation now stepped up in trip, especially if first-time cheekpieces can unlock even the slightest bit of improvement. Crossley Tender could be staying on well late in the day given he won over 3m1f at Plumpton in November, while Colonel Keating was placed off this mark over the extended 2m7f here in November and could similarly play a minor role.
While it's easy enough to have reservations about FLIGHT TO MILAN for one reason or another, this race won't take a great deal of winning and a reproduction of his latest effort at Leicester will probably suffice. Colonel Keating is next on the list ahead of Crossley Tender.

GALTEE MOUNTAIN got off the mark impressively at Warwick late last month and even a 10lb rise in the ratings may not be enough to stop him from taking this contest as well. Sixties Secret is far from a prolific winner but she is more than capable of making the frame today, while Age Of Wisdom and Tara Well complete the shortlist.
GALTEE MOUNTAIN has the potential to do better again now he's up and running given he's low mileage, so he looks the most interesting runner. Tara Well certainly isn't one to write off from a fair-looking mark though, with the in-form Sixties Secret and handicap-debutant Little Red Lion other possible threats.
