Temple Road scored with plenty in hand in a classified stakes race at Kempton earlier in the month and commands respect along with fellow penalty-carrier Pharoh Jake, who arrives here on a hat-trick after landing two course handicaps over 5f. Preferred ahead of both, however, is the unexposed KERFUFFLE, who took a step forward at Kempton last time and starts life in handicaps on an exploitable mark. Valdaw and Miakora are no forlorn hope for a place either.

Whiskey Junction is capable of making his presence felt off this sort of mark as he struck off 3lb lower on turf in August and showed his appetite still remains when beaten by under a length off 2lb lower at Wolverhampton last month. Putin went close over 7f when last sighted and could be open to a little bit more improvement over this shorter trip, but preferred ahead of both is REGINALD CLAUDE, who is also entitled to improve now dropped in trip and, unlike the last-named, has winning distance form to his name too.

Nashville has shown improved form over 1m4f the last twice, most recently when third in a Wolverhampton maiden, but his stamina for this longer trip has to be taken on trust. It might be worth siding with GINGER FIZZ, who amassed early experience in the NH scene, landing a Southwell bumper and finishing seventh in a Listed bumper at Sandown in March. He's handicapped on three maiden runs over shorter and improvement should be forthcoming now granted this stiffer test. Sherman McCoy is competitively weighted and another considered.

IRIDESCENCE was beaten by under a length over C&D on debut and wouldn't need to improve much upon that initial effort to go one better today. The selection is bred to be effective around this trip and is expected to open her account for powerful connections. Desert Sunrise looks exposed but is no forlorn hope for a place if reproducing the pick of his best polytrack form. Bouyrin took a forward step at Kempton last time and is another to consider.

You're The Boss shaped very nicely on his debut at Newmarket but that was in May and his subsequent absence is a concern. Nonetheless, he is very much respected but it might pay to side with one of the interesting newcomers. Master Hamilton is worth a market check but DESERT DONKEY gets the nod. Andrew Balding's debutant makes plenty of appeal on pedigree and confidence behind him would be a big positive.

BERT THE ALERT was bitterly disappointing in a Kempton handicap last month but he meets all of his rivals here on better terms than he would in a handicap and looks sure to play a leading role. Resplendent Alpha has been performing with credit in handicap company and he is respected. Anychanceofabirdie has been rather disappointing so far but he is unexposed and should not be written off just yet.

Odin was bitterly disappointing at York last time but he was in good heart prior to that and is worth a second look on his first start for Don Cantillon. Noguchi has claims on the form of his C&D second in claiming company last time and Ajeeb merits consideration but CAYUGA edges the verdict. He has been off since winning over this C&D on his handicap debut for Sir Michael Stoute but an 8lb rise for that success looks fair and he can go well on his first start for his new yard.

ENGLISH SUMMER has been performing consistently well in recent months and a reproduction of his Wolverhampton second on Saturday would give him a big chance this afternoon. Laser Blazer seldom runs a bad race and there is no reason why he will not give his running and be thereabouts once more. The Wonga Coup is in good heart and he is worthy of a place on the shortlist, with Strike Force also highly respected.
