A few with chances, but the vote goes to UPPERCASE. Harry Eustace's gelding bumped into an in-form rival when second at Pontefract a fortnight ago and, from an unchanged mark, he is taken to go one place better. Atmosphere escapes a penalty having landed an apprentice handicap under Jack Callan at Thirsk recently, so he merits plenty of respect along with Bay Of Dreams, who has been a model of consistency since being sent handicapping in March.
An open start to the card where top weight POST RIDER gets the narrow verdict. She has an absence to overcome but was twice a winner on fast ground last summer and is open to further progress over this longer trip. The booking of Oisin Murphy suggests she will be ready to go first time and can defeat last time out winner Atmosphere. That rival has been progressing since going handicapping and proved her ability on turf last time so is open to further improvement. Riyadh Gem was unsuited by the drop back to 1m last time but stepping back up in distance with Hollie Doyle booked could also go well at generous odds.

GRAN DESCANS showed a determined attitude to break his maiden tag at Doncaster earlier this month and the Frankel colt is difficult to oppose despite the penalty. The main threat is likely to come from Port George, who defied odds of 50-1 when filling the runner-up spot at Windsor in May. Captain Robert has produced a similar level of form across his two starts and is capable of being on the premises.
GRAN DESCANS left his debut form behind when a winner from the front last time and a repeat of that effort can see him defy a penalty. Bumper winner Gnomon was given too much to do on his flat debut but if getting a stiff test could take a big step forwards and prove the biggest danger. Port George had the run of the race when narrowly denied last time but will be a threat again if allowed to dictate.

A slow start didn't help SPIRIT STAR, who finished fourth behind Redditizio (second) at Yarmouth last time out. Marco Botti's charge is 1lb better off with that rival here though and providing she breaks on terms, that form could be reversed. Brightling struggled in a match race at Bath last time but remains of interest, while market support for nursery-debutant Dandy Orton would be noteworthy.
SPIRIT STAR was given too much to do on her handicap debut having missed the break but she finished well shaping as if she was capable off this current mark. Ideally she may want 6f in time but holds strong claims here if getting a stiff test. 5f looks the optimum distance for the Redditizio and having proven herself versatile surface wise she looks the biggest danger ahead of top weight Brightling who is a course winner who will have appreciated the rain over the weekend.

ABATE wears blinkers for the first time at the age of nine as he looks for his first victory since 2023. Second and fourth on his two starts since joining George Baker, the veteran may have another win in him despite his advancing years. Angle Land is an obvious danger after her Yarmouth second off 1lb lower, with her stablemate Speed Of Maajid is the pick for third place.
SPEED OF MAAJID showed a willing attitude when runner up last time in first time cheekpieces and is taken to go a place better in the retained headgear. There isn't much early pace in the line up and he could be tough to peg back. In a race with a distinct lack of recent winning form, it may pay to side with TOMMY'S PROMISE. John Ryan's gelding pulled too hard before weakening late on over a mile at Yarmouth last time out, and may be allowed to bowl along dropping back a furlong. However, LADY MODENA took a step forward to shed her maiden tag at Wolverhampton last time and now makes her handicap debut off a mark of 72. Up The Anti appreciated the return to a mile when scoring at Leicester last time, so this drop in trip is a concern and it may pay to side with STALINGRAD. Patrick Chamings' eight-year-old produced a better performance to finish third over C&D last month and was kindly dropped 1lb. Provided the son of War Front can back that up, he could be the one to beat. Blue Collar Lad is another to note.
ROMAN EMPEROR snapped a long losing run when dropped in grade last time and is fancied to follow up returned to handicaps off a lenient mark. He's proven himself versatile surface wise so the recent rain won't be an issue and has Oisin Murphy booked suggesting a big run is expected. Veteran Stalingrad proved he retained most of his ability over C&D last time and is on a dangerous mark if building on that so may provide the biggest challenge ahead of Mammy who has been running back into form recently.
