An open-looking contest which provides NIGHT EAGLE with a chance to regain winning ways. Gary Moore's charge hasn't been seen to best effect in two runs since showing a nice turn of foot to open his account over this trip at Bath in May but he's rated just 2lb higher now and he remains low milage. Confirmed mud-lover Pump It Up hasn't beef far off in her last three starts and her chance will only be enhanced by further rain, whilst Out Of Sight has also served notice that his time is near with a three successive placed efforts off this sort of mark.

Blue Beret advertised her well-being by winning at Windsor on Monday (just her second run on turf) but she encounters easier ground now and may be worth taking on under a penalty. Crestwood, who wasn't beaten far over C&D on Monday when attempting to back up an earlier win gained here, is one alternative but any value could lie with SPY LEGEND. Ralph Beckett's gelding ran no sort of race on his handicap debut over C&D on his reappearance but the fact that the money came for him that day suggests he'd been showing something at home and he could be worth another chance off a 3lb lower mark.

The penny has suddenly dropped with MOOSMEE who had little trouble following up a win gained over this C&D with an equally emphatic success over 7f here on Monday. Simon Dow's gelding clearly relishes ground with cut and a 5lb penalty may not be sufficient to deny him a hat-trick even though he no longer benefits from the assistance of champion jockey Oisin Murphy. Red Bravo and Quanah, runner-ups at Chepstow and on this course respectively on there most recent starts, are others to note along with Ralph Beckett's handicap debutant Zartaj.

The market is likely to prove informative in this maiden in which Way To Win sets the standard from a form perspective without being entirely convincing. Archie Watson's newcomers invariably command respect and Stargazer Lily is no exception being a half-sister to a clutch of juvenile winners. In contrast, PERSIAN ROYAL is bred to appreciate further in time but Roger Charlton has his string in such scintillating form right now that it would be no great surprise if he was forward enough to oblige at the first attempt.

Soft ground could be the key to DEPUTY regaining the thread in this handicap. Charlie Fellowes' gelding had created a favourable impression when wearing down his opponents to score with a bit up his sleeve over 7f at Newbury last month but the fact that he could only manage third over that C&D next time appeared to be more attributable to quicker ground rather than the 5lb rise he'd incurred. He remains one to be interested in off his present mark in these conditions and may just have too much for the likes of Marlay Park, Hajjam and Cityzen Serg who all finished second last time out.

MAKINITUP put debut experience to good use when producing a much improved display to win on heavy ground over 7f here next time out, giving the impression there is a fair bit more to come from her. Testing conditions clearly hold no fears for Peter Chapple-Hyam's filly and it would be no surprise to see her follow up in a race which may not take too much winning if the Andrew Balding newcomer Eikonix doesn't act on the surface. Mick Channon's 40,000gns gelding Knightofpentacles is the other newcomer to note.

Having taken 21 attempts to finally come good on soft ground at Brighton last month, PORTERINTHEJUNGLE duly followed up in fetching fashion at Chepstow last time and the ensuing 5lb rise may not be quite enough to prevent a hat-trick given the sparkling form of the Robyn Brisland yard. Rectory Road landed a gamble at Yarmouth last time and, though he's escaped serious punishment from the handicapper, he couldn't be guaranteed to repeat that form under a winless apprentice. Fox Leicester, who won a seller over a longer trip last time, could prove a bigger threat given that he's won off higher marks in the past.
