BLUE ATLANTIC impressively beat a useful yardstick in Final Countdown (placed in three of his four starts) on his hurdling debut over C&D and with his stable continuing to send out the winners, he gets the vote to follow up. Brian Ellison won this race in 2011 and saddles an interesting runner in Seamour. He has won and finished second in two starts on the Flat and looks the type who will take well to hurdling, while Pain Au Chocolat and Witch From Rome add further spice to the race.

WARRANTOR showed a likeable attitude when beating subsequent winner Arzal (who turned over short-priced favourite West Wizard) over the extended 2m at Chepstow and, likely to improve again for this step up in trip, he could prove a tough nut to crack. Hurdling debutant Racing Europe rates the biggest threat following his impressive 10-length victory in a bumper at Bangor, while Irish import Golan Dancer and Fontwell bumper scorer Weststreet are others to note.

KNOCKALONGI had subsequent winner The Happy Warrior nine lengths behind when scoring on his chasing debut at Taunton three weeks ago and providing he doesn't 'bounce' (that was his first outing since February 2012), he might be able to defy a 10lb rise. Royal Palladium is now 12lb higher than the first of his two recent victories but another big run looks on the cards, while Desert Joe and Royal Native are more than capable in a tight, competitive handicap.

With massive emphasis on stamina, it might pay to side with the lightly-weighted VOLIO VINCENTE. The seven-year-old certainly shouldn't be short on confidence having won comfortably on similar testing ground at Fontwell last time and a 7lb penalty may not be enough to anchor him if he can reproduce that level of performance. Urban Gale ran third in the race that was later made void at Sedgefield recently and he can go well off the same mark of 99, while Minella Bliss is no forlorn hope on his chasing return.

Vaihau was held in high enough regard to contest the Grade 2 Dovecote Novices' Hurdle on his UK debut at Kempton and, placed in a couple of novice events since, he warrants plenty of respect making his handicap debut off an opening mark of 111, but SHEAR ROCK shades the verdict. His last couple of efforts read well and any further improvement from his narrow defeat at Warwick last time will see him go very close. Recent C&D second Raktiman also merits consideration.

GRAND GIGOLO lines up off the same mark as when opening his account in a conditional jockeys' race at Ludlow and with connections securing the services of Tony McCoy, he will be well fancied to complete the double. From the opposite end of the weights, Blue Sea Of Ibrox, who has been placed on her last couple of appearances, looks to be the biggest danger, while Exeter third Snowball also has solid place credentials.

QASSER won pretty much as he liked over 2m at Plumpton last month and although a 19lb rise will obviously make life a lot tougher, he is entitled to improve for that first outing since May and might be able to strike again. Make Me A Fortune is feared most just 2lb higher than when beaten three-quarters of a length at Huntingdon, while Danceintothelight ran well to finish second at Catterick yesterday and must be considered if making a quick reappearance.
