John Ferguson has a strike-rate of 38% at this venue and AALIM looks a serious contender on his hurdling debut after staying on strongly to get off the mark at Wolverhampton last month. Harristown produced a lacklustre display when favourite at Warwick last month, but it wouldn't be the biggest shock if he bounced back, while the same can be said of Innsbruck who represents a trainer who is prolific in events of this type, but he needs to put a below par introductory effort behind him. Finally, Kalimantan sold for 45,000 euros and deserves a market check on debut.

CAPTAIN CUTTER sets a high standard after confirming the promise he exhibited in competitive NH flat company when bolting up on his hurdling debut. He carries a penalty for that success, but the 10 length margin of victory suggests 7lb extra won't be enough to stop him. Figaro was useful on the Flat and his second effort over timber hinted that he can start to justify his 100,000gns price tag, while Broadway Symphony won an Irish bumper and can improve for his first try over hurdles. Vermouth Bleu represents leading connections and is worth a market check on debut.

DUKE OF MONMOUTH broke his duck over the larger obstacles at Uttoxeter, and with a 117-rated rival adding some substance to the form in third, plus the extra yardage not looking an issue, he shades the selection. Fellow recent winner, Young Hurricane, also got off the mark at the second time of asking and rates as a big danger, while Deise Dynamo can be on the premises if putting his recent Ascot effort behind him. Distime is perhaps the most intriguing contender on his return from over a year off, as he was last sighted finishing a close second to the very smart Unioniste at Aintree.

Jonjo O'Neill took this race in 2011, so he knows what it takes to prime a winner for this stamina sapping test, and VERY STYLISH shades the selection on that basis having looked outpaced over shorter distances this season. Moon Melody has exhibited some form over 3m3f, and has shaped as if further would suit, so he looks a very live danger, while Acrai Rua has won at a similarly testing trip before and has to be considered despite his below par reappearance. Roseneath completes the shortlist after some solid displays.

AMOK was far from disgraced when pitched into competitive company at Cheltenham last month, and returning to a more realistic level, he is fancied to take this. There are some slight question marks over the trip though, and Andreo Bambaleo looks his biggest danger, after finding only one too good for him over track and trip recently. Shimla Dawn acquitted himself well on his reappearance run and appears to be unexposed on just his fourth start over hurdles.

FORMULATION arrives on the back of a decent effort when third at Hexham, and with that only his second run of the season, he is fancied to improve further and win here. Short Takes is an intriguing contender after a long absence, having produced a likeable display at Bangor when last sighted, and if he is primed for his return, he can be on the premises. The bottom weight Volcanic Jack completes the shortlist after a decent third placed finish last time.

DEGOOCH changed hands for 65,000 pounds after success between the flags in Ireland, and with his second at Newcastle last month rating as a pleasing introductory effort under Rules, he is fancied to gain compensation at the second time of asking. Bandit Country is a typically well-bred debutant for powerful connections normally associated with the Flat, and should be monitored closely in the betting, while Frampton looks a big danger on his first start for a new yard.
