SET THE TREND is the class horse in the race and should take some stopping in receipt of 7lb from Storm Of Swords, who is rated 1lb his inferior. David Dennis' charge could hardly have been more impressive when winning at Ludlow two starts back and lost little in defeat when bumping into a potentially smart Paul Nicholls' inmate at Stratford subsequently. Storm Of Swords cannot be completely overlooked, though, as he has been in good form himself, winning with any amount in hand at Worcester. Countersign makes up the shortlist.

There isn't much between Aviator (122), Faithful Mount (124) and Oh Land Abloom (120) on official ratings and it is difficult to rule any of them out, but a filly getting plenty of weight is MAGIC MAGNOLIA and she can serve it up to the boys. Dan Skelton's four-year-old was well supported on her debut for the Warwickshire-based trainer last month, so is clearly well thought of at home, and she can make a winning impression if recapturing the form that saw her finish half-a-length second in a Listed juvenile hurdle at Wetherby last October.

Nigel Hawke appears to have found GREYBOUGG a real opening in his bid to recapture the winning thread and he's the standard-setter in this beginners' chase. Boasting a mark of 135, the six-year-old brings progressive hurdles form to the table and can be forgiven his latest Towcester effort when bumping into some nice types on his fencing bow. Factor Fifty goes chasing for the first time and is a winner over hurdles at this track, but Stephen Hero brings better timber form to the table and he is feared most.

TIQUER won a similar handicap at Uttoxeter with any amount in hand and a 16lb rise, for all it appears steep at first glance, might not be enough to halt his progress. That first career success may have been the making of him and supporters will be pleased to see Brendan Powell keep the partnership intact. Figaro exploited a 2lb higher mark over hurdles so must be respected on just his second start over the larger obstacles, while Ivans Back can also make the frame.

Course specialist BOWIE won this race 12 months ago off 5lb lower and is fancied to play a leading role again after warming up with a good third over slightly further here last month. Nick Kent's charge just gets the nod over Dynamo, a runner-up in a maiden here latest and expected to appreciate this extra yardage on his handicap bow, and Bangor maiden winner Shear Rock.

DOUBLE SILVER has returned from a winter break with back-to-back wins over an extended 2m5f at Ludlow, staying on strongly on both occasions and suggesting this extra yardage will unlock further improvement. Fergal O'Brien's mare can defy a 6lb rise, possibly at the main expense of Border Breaker, who contested a good handicap at Ayr latest and has claims on his double in novice company earlier in the year. Phare Isle's trip to the Punchestown Festival didn't work out but he won well over this C&D previously, albeit off 11lb lower.

RUARAIDH HUGH is a rapidly improving sort and although he is now 19lb higher than when scoring over C&D in April, the manner in which he kicked well clear when a facile scorer at Towcester last time out suggests he is up to defying this latest 13lb rise. The biggest threat could be The Yank, who enjoyed a fine winter on the all-weather and might be ready to improve on his previous hurdles form now. Galactic Power should be finishing strongly and will be dangerous if turning for home within striking distance.
