KILLALA QUAY commands respect having made a winning start to his hurdles career at Aintree last month. Charlie Longsdon's charge must shoulder a customary penalty in novices' company today, but won with plenty of authority last time and may be capable of giving the weight away. Marmas was far from disgraced when third in a novices' event at Wetherby last time and has place claims along with course bumper winner Wintered Well.

Try Catch Me has landed the silver medal on both of his last two starts over this trip at Fontwell and is expected to be thereabouts, but the assessor looks to have him about right at present so preference is for UNCLE PELDER, who is unexposed and showed enough on his penultimate start in a novice chase at Huntingdon to think an opening mark of 102 is workable. Kayfton Pete and Tom O'Tara also have place possibilities.

MULLIGAN'S MAN looks to be getting sharper with each run and gets the verdict on the back of his Perth second last month. Donald McCain's charge stumbled late on and would have otherwise finished closer, while he could benefit from the step up in trip today. Lemon Drop Red has claims if reproducing his best hurdles form over the larger obstacles, while money for Sunglasses, who is back from a long break, would also be interesting.

15:45 Market Rasen (Class 3) (4YO plus)

Paddy The Hare is 7lb higher than when scoring over 2m4f at Uttoxeter last month and looks to have an obvious chance, likewise Lost Legend, who arrives here on a hat-trick, 10lb higher than when winning at Stratford. Preferred ahead of both, however, is BRUNSWICK GOLD. Steve Gollings' representative sauntered to an easy victory over C&D on good ground in May and looks good value for his subsequent 7lb rise.

First In The Queue returned to winning ways over 2m1f at Aintree last time and should remain competitive after a 6lb rise while Smalib Monterg, who struck over this trip at Newton Abbot in May and has kept himself sharp on the Flat recently, should also go well. Less exposed than the aforementioned pair, however, LIFE AND SOUL gets the nod. He's been a model of consistency in novice events and now makes his handicap debut.

Valleyofmilan needs to leave behind a disappointing novice effort at Aintree if he's to figure now moving back into handicaps and, as he's been held off a similar mark before, preference is for SAGREDO. His latest effort at Sandown in November was poor but he's since been in reasonable order on the Flat and could benefit from the fitting of a first-time visor. Exit To Freedom was third over C&D latest but is 4lb out of the weights today.

17:15 Market Rasen (Class 5) (4YO plus)

Tennessee Bird has been raised 7lb for finishing second over 2m1f at Hexham last time and C&D winner Phoenix Eye, who is only 2lb higher than when last visiting the winner's enclosure at Hereford last year, returns from a 248-day break. On The Feather has been held off similar marks at Taunton and Fontwell recently, so perhaps it may be worth chancing POBS TROPHY, who ran well for a long way until weakening over the last at Worcester.
