ALTO DES MOTTES should prove a class above these rivals if running up to a mark of 117. Having his first run for Henry Hogarth since leaving Paul Nicholls' yard, the son of Dream Well wasn't beaten far at Wincanton last time out and he got within eight lengths of a subsequent Grade 2 winner at Ludlow in December. Of the others, Bobble Emerald can build on placed efforts in bumpers at Worcester and Cul Dealga is a point-to-point winner.

HASSLE, rated as high as 95 when plying his trade on the Flat, has shaped with promise in two starts over hurdles and should be good enough to score in a novice race of this nature. Fourth behind an above-average stable companion at Doncaster and third behind two useful horses at Newbury last time, the 125-rated gelding boasts sound claims. Quebec won a selling hurdle at Exeter so needs to improve again, so Camachoice is feared most.

FLYING LIGHT regained the winning thread in emphatic fashion at Exeter last month and is tough to oppose while that dominant display remains fresh in the memory. Up 9lb for that nine-length demolition job, the better ground brought about marked improvement in the Chevalier gelding and another bold showing looks assured. The Winking Prawn finished a decent third at Kempton latest and comes into the reckoning, along with Waterford Star.

WARDEN HILL was beaten 40 lengths by subsequent Gold Cup winner Coneygree in Grade 1 company at Kempton on Boxing Day and looks some way clear of these rivals on form. Rated 135 in this sphere, Mick Channon's gelding is lightly raced over fences, winning at Fakenham by 51 lengths back in November, and should have the beating of Midnight Oscar and Sir Mangan. The former is feared most on the basis that he won at Uttoxeter when last sighted in this sphere.

CAPE YORK appeared to benefit from the fitting of blinkers when scoring gamely over this trip at Wetherby and a 5lb rise may not be enough to anchor him if the headgear works its magic again. Mister Wiseman made it ten career wins when scoring readily over 2m4f here three weeks ago. He demands respect, while Favoured Nation and Mr Syntax cannot be ruled out either.

LIGHT THE CITY made the perfect start to his chasing career when winning by five lengths at Sedgefield last month. He backed that up with a solid third over hurdles ten days later and might be able to defy a 7lb rise, making it two from two in this sphere. Kayfton Pete rates the biggest threat on the back of his Southwell second, ahead of Auldthunder and George Nympton.

YES I DID confirmed ability shown between the flags when chasing home a useful sort from the Sir Mark Prescott stable on his NH debut in this sphere at Southwell. That experience certainly won't have been lost on her and she rates the one to beat. Simply Rouge may have to play second fiddle for the third time in a row, while Lapalala is a respected newcomer from the Philip Hobbs stable.
