THISTLE is a solid selling-grade performer and goes well for his conditional rider who takes off a useful 5lb. He was not disgraced behind Advancement at Uttoxeter, nor when beaten just over 8 lengths by Nicki Boy in claiming company last time. New Wish is an obvious contender, winning smoothly in this grade recently on this track where he has gained both hurdle victories to date. Gamma Velorum was well behind New Wish last time but would go close on his previous novice form behind Regent's Secret.

Russian Flag seems to have found trouble in getting home in his races so far and it is understandable that Charlie Longsdon is aiming him at a modest event on this sharp track on good ground. His overall form will see him go close but his stamina is a sufficient doubt for the vote to go to STILL AT LUNCH. The King's Theatre gelding found his stamina also stretched last time, and this drop back in trip will suit. His previous second to Regent's Secret could just be enough here. No Supper looks next best.

SEYMOUR WELD has to handle the concession of 12lb to his opponents but Charles Pogson's gelding has already demonstrated his affection for this track with two summer jumping victories before being understandably outpointed in the big Listed summer handicap here in July. The key to his previous successes was his excellent fencing and he should prevail if retaining his form. Sycho Fred also enjoys this track and looks next best, with the consistent but limited Young Tot not without a chance.

KIRBY'S VIC has had a profitable summer, recording two seconds and two victories, latterly when comfortably obliging at Southwell. He is now 13lb higher than when successful at Worcester in July but his prominent style of running will be suited to this track. Laoch Dubh beat the selection at Uttoxeter but has plenty of weight and may struggle to confirm placings. Genghis is still a light of former days but his second to Scalloway at Aintree in mid-June would afford him feasible claims here.

This modest affair may revolve around Changing Lanes having a 'going day' or not. The gelding clearly has ability, as evidenced by his close second to Native City over 2m4f at Worcester. He was then far less effective over 3m at the same track when a well-beaten third but if close to his best would prevail here. However, BAARRIJ was quite impressive when landing a Uttoxeter seller and gave the impression she could take this step up in grade in her stride. Aliba has an each-way chance.
