This is a cracking handicap which you would expect for the prize money. Borora holds no secrets from the handicapper but continues to run well as he did when runner-up to Xellance over course and distance recently, however both will have to find a bit more to take this. TRAVEL has been in sparkling form this summer and might well have won his last three but for falling in the latter stages on his penultimate run. Coming off a strong pace is what he likes and there will be no hanging about in this. Buena Vista was a smart bumper performer and has had no trouble wrapping up three weak novices this summer, this will be a lot tougher but he is one of the only ones who remain unexposed. Stratford winner Monticelli is the choice of Richard Johnson and must be respected along with Wiscalitus who bounced back to form last time and is a previous course winner.

Only the second juvenile hurdle of the season so very little form to go on. Tidal Fury has had two runs over hurdles at Auteuil on very different ground, he was successful on his first start and must be respected with that experience under his belt but his habit of jumping left would be a concern on this right handed track. Patrick Haslam does really well with his small team of jumpers and DAN'S HEIR was a fair middle distance performer on the level and will take plenty of beating under Tony McCoy. John Forbes will have to learn to settle better that he did last weekend at Stratford.

Giorgio ran a sound race when runner-up to Kind Sir on his first start for Lucinda Russell and is sure to make a bold bid from the front, he has also proved in recent starts that he stays further than this so his opposition would not want to gift him a lead. FIERY PEACE was last successful around here, is relatively lightly raced this year and will be suited by conditions. Bill's Echo reverted to hurdles last time and posted a sound effort, he can play a part along with Ceannairceach who scored on his first run in this country over course and distance and is still not badly treated.

The showpiece of the season for Market Rasen and it looks a competitive heat. Opportunities are thin on the ground this time of year for BALLYCASSIDY over fences but this race has been on his trainer's mind for some time now. A high class novice in the 2003/2004 season he had to run in some top races last season and was not disgraced. He finished 8th in the Gold Cup and was still there with a chance until a bad blunder at the top of the hill put paid to his chances. A nice prize came his way at Kelso in May and he has been saved for this since a gutsy hurdle success last month. He is sure to make a bold bid under the champion jockey despite carrying top weight. His stablemate Celtic Boy could be argued unlucky not to have won his last four starts and while this represents his toughest task by some way he remains unexposed and his trainer has said that he is a lot better going right handed. Impek is a classy individual who has proved that this trip is within his compass, he has a good record fresh but he is yet to win a handicap over fences. Bronzesmith comes here in fine fettle but will find it a lot tougher than his recent Worcester successes.

The fitting of cheek-pieces seemed to transform RAJAM at Perth last time when he beat Va Vavoom in good style. A repeat performance today means there is no point looking elsewhere. Richard Guest has three runners with Durba possibly being the most interesting. Zaffre has at least won over hurdles and is likely to be staying on for a place. Given A Chance has become quite frustrating to follow. Expect an improved run from Lytham who ran better on his first run than his placing suggests.

6

16:50 Market Rasen (Class E) (5YO plus)

Mortons Print Novices' Handicap Chase

Beaugency has failed to complete on his last two starts and could not be recommended with any confidence. Tee-Jay stays further than this and should be capable of being placed but he is yet to win over fences from ten attempts. Quizzling ran well on unfavourable terms at Worcester last time and will be a lot better running off his proper mark here. PILLAR OF FIRE is pretty reliable at this level and he probably caught a tartar last time over course and distance, he looks sure to be involved along with John Rich who blotted his copybook by running out at the last when upsides the selection last time.

17:20 Market Rasen (Class D) (4YO plus)

Probably best to concentrate on those with recent form and IZZYKEEN fits into that category. He has been in good heart since last year and his recent effort has been franked by the winner going in again. Rift Valley was in sparkling form in the spring and is sure to play a major part especially as he prefers going this way round. Alva Glen is a little better than his last run suggests and he holds a bigger chance than Siegfrieds Night who is unlikely to stay. Mr Fluffy and Masters of War would hold claims on their best form.
