KINGS LODGE made a pleasing start to his hurdling career at Uttoxeter in October when he appeared to be in need of that seasonal reappearance and the Nicky Henderson charge is expected to have come on a good deal for that outing. Sertao shaped with plenty of promise in bumper company and is likely to know his task now making the switch to timber and while the booking of AP McCoy is an interesting one. Cavite Eta makes most appeal of the others.

The 120-rated King Fingal clearly sets the form standard in this claiming hurdle and with the talented Dean Pratt taking off a useful 10lb in the saddle, the gelded son of King's Best must be considered. However, while JOAN D'ARC would appear to have a tough job on her hands against the boys, she can take advantage of a significant weight concession in her favour. Her form over hurdles looks strong enough but keep an eye on the returning Just Rob under AP McCoy.

MOONLIGHT DRIVE is clearly held in high regard having been pitched at the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham's spring showpiece and the jockey booking in particular suggests that the gelded son of Oscar is showing plenty of promise in the schooling ring at home. Sir Tamburlane looks interesting at the forecast prices but Carpincho wasn't disgraced at Chepstow latest and, providing he has come on for that effort, he should go very close.

14:20 Market Rasen (Class 3) (4YO plus)

Ferdy Murphy's string tend to come on for their season reappearances and Kellystown Lad is interesting despite the burden of top weight. Daldini represents the in form Sue Smith and holds genuine claims on the back of his performance at Haydock in October but preference is for NORTH ISLAND. The C&D winner is visored for the first time and has threatened a big run off this mark, most notably at Hereford 10 days ago in a similar contest when runner-up.

Scorched Son has clearly had his problems for Tim Vaughan but a positive market move for the gelded son of Norwich, who returns from an 833-day absence, would be worth following. MILANO SUPREMO gets the vote on his handicap debut having shown plenty of promise in novice company. Racing off a mark of 114, the son of Milan is potentially well handicapped after running Stormin Exit close at Kelso when last sighted. Descaro and Beat The Shower are others with claims.

15:20 Market Rasen (Class 5) (4YO plus)

Phs Group Lady Amateur Riders' Handicap Hurdle

C&D winner OBARA D'AVRIL makes most appeal in this Lady Amateur Riders' event as the April Night mare looks to have a big run up her sleeve off this mark and, with 7lb claimer Carly Frater in the saddle, the nine-year-old looks weighted to win one of these sooner rather than later. Solway Blue is another that has scored over the track and trip and must be taken seriously along with Roxane Bruere, who runs 3lb well in at the weights.

7

15:50 Market Rasen (Class 5) (4YO plus)

Phs Group Handicap Chase

A competitive handicap chase for punters to solve in the finale and APACHE BLUE might be worth siding with if ready to roll on his seasonal bow. The son of Presenting scored over this C&D in March off a 6lb lower mark and with Daryl Millar taking off 10lb in the saddle, he is taken to go very close. Recent C&D runner-up O Crotaigh runs 5lb well in at the weights and is one to keep onside along with Allanard.
