Katies Tutor attempts to land this listed contest for the second year in succession but is a stone higher on official ratings than when scoring last year. JOE JO STAR is also rocketing through the handicap but could still be capable of defying the handicapper, having landed the Swinton Hurdle in good fashion in May. He has been in good heart on the flat subsequently and is worth chancing once again. Toshi is going well under both codes at present while Cootehill is a fascinating contender off ten stone. He travels really well through his races and could be anything.

Rupestrian has already rattled up a hat-trick and will obviously be popular seeking the four-timer. He'll be hard to beat but made heavy weather of things at Sedgefield last time and it might be worth chancing PURE CRYSTAL in receipt of 17lb. The Quinlan team has already scored with one of their two runners here this season and the selection made a pleasing debut here last month, staying on well to claim the minor placing behind Herschel. True Britannia made a satisfactory debut at Newton Abbot, while Red China Blues looks the pick of the newcomers.

A cracking contest with plenty of chances and SHIWAWA is taken to augment her already excellent career record of six wins from nine runs under NH rules. She handled the step up in trip here last time and should have little problem with the extra two furlongs. Factotum and Last Flight have both been in good heart in the current campaign and the latter has taken the move in handicap company in her stride. She looks the main threat with Sheshali, two from two this year, another worthy of consideration despite having to concede weight all round.

Peter Bowen has landed this prestigious summer contest for the past three years and unveils a quartet of runners here. Iron Man, winner of the 2007 renewal, looks the most interesting off an attractive handicap mark with Richard Johnson booked. However, Jonjo O'Neill also has a multiple entry and NOSTRINGSATTACHED, the choice of AP McCoy, looked an improved performer when scoring at Ffos Las and could still be open to progress. He is narrowly preferred to the lightly-raced but talented Native Coral, for whom Barry Geraghty is an excellent booking. King Troy and Postmaster are other interesting contenders in what is always an open contest.

This looks between the two penalised contenders and preference is for ANY GIVEN DAY. A four-time Flat winner, the gelding has been unextended in two victories over timber and looks best followed until beaten. Moment Present has also scored the last twice, both times enjoying a little hand at Huntingdon. He should be suited by this track and rates a potent danger. Viable looks the most obvious each-way option in receipt of weight from the top two, especially when his rider's allowance is taken into account. Alesandro Mantegna is not discounted.

CHARMAHAL hasn't visited the winner's enclosure since the spring of 2006 but it is significant that the O'Neill/McManus combination has persevered with him. He was in contention when falling on his penultimate outing and was only beaten a length at Southwell last month. He 's up 4lb for that but a mark of 99 seems reasonable and he can get his head in front here. Arctic Shadow looked an improved performer when scoring at Uttoxeter and will go close if reproducing that level. C&D winner, Chorizo, may have a little too much weight but Sam Cruise is a possible improver.

17:25 Market Rasen (Class 3) (4YO plus)

KIKOS has matured into a splendidly consistent front-runner and has inevitably been punished by the handicapper, recently having been raised 8lb for an impressive success at Uttoxeter, making all and jumping well. He is obviously going to find life tougher as he ascends the handicap but this sharp track should play to his strengths. Little Lu is unbeaten in three outings here but has plenty to do under topweight in her first venture into handicap company. C&D winner, Nesnaas, is a contender if the rains stay away.
