Those with previous hurdling experience do not set a high standard but Hazard Collonges did show some promise at Chepstow last month. That said, preference is for SOCIALIST AGENDA, who won three bumpers in 2020 and he merits the utmost respect on his hurdling bow. Rocky Lake finished second in an Irish point earlier in the year and is the pick of the remainder.

WORLD TRIP was only narrowly denied when last seen at Perth in May and she could be hard to beat off just 2lb higher this afternoon, despite the 190-day layoff. Go Chique got off the mark over hurdles two starts ago and her underwhelming effort on seasonal return last month can be forgiven. The shortlist is completed by Misscarlett and Chosen Shant.

JESUITIQUE has won both starts since joining this yard and he is hard to oppose given that he is 5lb well in today as he does not have to carry a penalty for his victory at Sandown 11 days ago. Thunderstruck has filled second place in both starts since winning at Fontwell in May and he should be in the mix once again this afternoon. Teescomponents Lad edges out Small Present to be the pick of the remainder.

Orrisdale was clear when falling at the last at Newton Abbot last month but a 5lb hike for that seems on the harsh side, while Hardy Du Seuil recovered from a first-fence fall on his chasing debut to win a match race over fences at Carlisle last time. TORIGNI gets the vote, though, as he was much the best of these over timber, placing on three occasions in competitive handicaps before dead-heating for victory at the Scottish National meeting at Ayr. He struggled to land a blow on his reappearance in a Grade 3 at Chepstow, but this smaller field and better ground look firmly in his favour.

All of these come into this contest with a bit to prove after modest recent runs, so GO AS YOU PLEASE is only a tentative selection. A good winner at Warwick two starts ago, he struggled off a 3lb higher mark at Fontwell last time and could make amends off 1lb lower in this. Above Suspicion had his fair share of supporters when beaten a long way into fourth at Huntingdon on his return but he could be better for that chasing experience, while Heronord was still travelling well when unseating at Taunton and could go well with a clear round.

TAQWAA shaped with promise when last seen after posting an encouraging fourth at Stratford last month. The son of Iffraaj remains unexposed over hurdles and he gets the vote to build on that performance off a 2lb lower mark. The Cincinnati Kid remains lightly raced in handicaps and he could find improvement now returning to this shorter trip, while Blue Collar Glory is one to note wearing a first-time tongue tie.

URBAN GRIT showed plenty of potential when finishing second on his racecourse debut at Huntingdon in May. The four-year-old gelding now returns from a break and he gets the vote to continue Olly Murphy's rich vein of form. Barest Of Margins commands respect if building on his Newton Abbot display and he appears to be the main danger, while Heron Creek and Springwell Bay complete the shortlist.
