The first-time blinkered Fiulin had some smart hurdles form early last season and warrants respect on his first start since being pulled up in the Albert Bartlett at Cheltenham, but BRASS TAX edges the vote. He confirmed that his second to the exciting Simonsig (who has won again since) was no fluke when fourth in a Grade 2 contest at Cheltenham last time and looks certain to go close in this company. Theology has questions to answer after disappointing at Doncaster.

It could pay to side with handicap debutant GINGER GREY in what looks a wide-open event. David O'Meara's progressive five-year-old won his maiden in fine style over 2m at Catterick last time and looks to have a great chance of following up off this opening mark of 106. Pampelonne has been knocking hard on the door recently and should be in the thick of things once again, while Monarch's Way and Patavium make up the shortlist.

Elsafeer had been in dazzling form before finishing down the field in a competitive Listed hurdle at Ascot last time and ought to figure prominently with a lot less on his plate today, while Not Til Monday demolished a small field at Fakenham last month and demands respect off a 7lb higher mark. The vote, however, goes to FRIDAYTHORPE. He showed much more promise in a decent novices' hurdle at Wetherby latest and looks fairly treated on this debut in handicap company.

MIC'S DELIGHT stepped up on a couple of earlier placed efforts over fences when scoring readily over this C&D four weeks ago and, with that confidence booster under his belt, he will be strongly fancied to follow up. Trustan Times oozes class but needs to brush up on his jumping so State Benefit, who ran two cracking races in soft conditions last month, looks the most likely danger with this faster ground expected to suit.

RICH LORD still held every chance when hitting four from home and catapulting Graham Lee out of the saddle at Southwell on Wednesday and, providing this doesn't come too soon, he could make amends. Gentleman Jeff responded positively to the application of cheekpieces when touched off at Catterick last time and should give another good account with that piece of tack used again, while Accordintolawrence is no forlorn hope if putting his best foot forward.

16:20 Market Rasen (Class 5) (5YO plus)

Watch Racing Uk On Sky Channel 432 Handicap Chase

With Graham Lee unfortunately sidelined for the foreseeable future, Lucy Alexander can continue her good run of form for Ferdy Murphy and Pistol Basc appears to have come back down to a mark off which he can be competitive. However, STICK TOGETHER is preferred having dropped 3lb below his last winning mark. That win came at this track in February 2010 and he should go close once more if anything close to that form can be reproduced. Oniz Tiptoes completes the shortlist.

It was very hard not to be impressed with NEW YEAR'S EVE when he made it a winning debut at Ludlow last month and John Ferguson's 120,000-guinea recruit can follow up. He won't mind this slight step up in trip but Hi George has done nothing but improve for Malcolm Jefferson and shouldn't be completely ruled out. The penalised Sedgefield winner Swinging Sultan rates best of the rest.
