Western Miller was an impressive winner at Carlisle last month and he looks a useful prospect, but he could prove to be vulnerable under a 7lb penalty today. OLDGRANGEWOOD took an Irish point with ease back in March and has since joined the Dan Skelton yard for 70,000 pounds. It was looking likely that Fact Of The Matter was going to take a major hand in the finish at Worcester latest when he unseated his rider at the third-last, and prior to that he was progressive in bumpers. Amiral Collonges and Barney Dwan are others to note in a competitive event.

The yard of Venetia Williams has been in great form so far in the month of November and UHLAN BUTE could hardly have been more impressive when winning at Bangor by 11 lengths last week. He has to carry a 7lb penalty for that success but the handicapper has raised his mark to 120, meaning he is still 4lb well in today. St Johns Point was third behind Upswing (second in a Grade 3 at Cheltenham on Saturday) in a 0-135 handicap on his chase debut at Worcester last month and he makes plenty of appeal in this race. Chicoria and Down Time can fight it out for third place.

RUSSBOROUGH was taken off his feat over 2m at Aintree earlier in the month but he did stay on well enough that day, suggesting that he could be competitive when stepped back up in trip. He beat a subsequent winner when victorious on his penultimate start over 2m3f at Exeter in March. Shockingtimes has gone close on a couple of occasions already this season and another good run looks likely, despite a further 2lb rise in the ratings. Dartford Warbler, Rio Milan and She's Late are others who enter calculations.

CLONDAW BANKER arrives here without a penalty for his win in a competitive conditional riders' race at Sandown 11 days ago, which means he is 5lb well in according to his new mark. Work In Progress found only a stablemate of the selection too good last time, but the front two pulled clear of the rest that day and the Dan Skelton runner has been put up 8lb as a result. Brave Spartacus was fourth in a Grade 2 chase last time and looks to exploit a 19lb lower mark over hurdles.

Knight Bachelor was unfortunate to be raised 8lb in the ratings for the two second-placed finishes earlier in the year and was disappointing when a beaten favourite next time, although this track is likely to suit him better. Slight preference, however, is for SILVER SHUFFLE, who wasn't out of the first three in seven starts on the Flat this summer and he followed those efforts with a narrow second over hurdles at Aintree last month. Perseid bumped into a highly progressive rival at Sedgefield a few weeks ago and a 2lb rise is unlikely to stop him going well again.

RIDE ON TIME was only denied by the narrowest of margins over C&D a fortnight ago, the handicapper has raised him 3lb for that effort but since there was 20 lengths back to the third, he could still be well rated. Ivans Back has been in the first three in seven of his 11 starts at this track and he can add to that record today. Pembroke House has fallen on both of his chase starts so far in his career so Fly Home Harry looks the pick of the remainder.

SAND BLAST has shown the ability to win a race like this with three consecutive runner-up efforts and he should have come on for his first outing of the season at Musselburgh a couple of weeks ago. Our Three Sons has a similar profile and is only marginally passed over. Nobel Leader was an easy winner of a point and cost his current connections 55,000 pounds, although his new trainer is not renowned for bumper winners despite taking this race a year ago. Keeper Hill has to come into consideration due his trainer's 35 per cent strike-rate in British bumpers over the past five years, while Scarteen can go well despite his yard being in questionable form.
