HORSTED VALLEY shaped like this would be his sort of trip when making a winning bumper debut at Southwell in April. He was one of the first off the bridle that day but stayed on relentlessly up the straights and is sure to improve now going hurdling with his yard in great nick. Gone Forever was a useful performer in NH Flat races himself and he is likely to give the selection plenty to think about. Atlantic Gold and Vivant Poeme merit consideration and complete the shortlist.

VIVA STEVE made a highly encouraging chase debut over C&D earlier this month and, with match fitness on his side, he can open his account over fences at the second attempt. Catching On was progressing nicely over timber when last sighted, but he has yet to convince that he stays this trip having been well beaten on his two previous attempts, and he may just need the run. Call Me Vic was too keen for his own good at Worcester and he will need to settle better here if he is to play part. Shantou Magic boasts the strongest hurdles form but has to bounce back from a heavy fall at Carlisle on his chasing bow.

Fresh could be the time to catch RICHMOND, and he is fancied to make a winning reappearance. The forecast soft ground is in his favour and he will likely be able to dominate in this small field. The Society Man is more than capable of playing a part off this mark but he is becoming increasingly frustrating. Hit The Top steps up in trip having been comfortably held over shorter the last twice. He should go well if his stamina holds out, while Dashing George will likely improve for this outing after a 213 day break.

HENRYVILLE's improvement shows no signs of abating and he should have enough class to defy top-weight. A reproduction of his runner-up effort in a competitive Cheltenham handicap last time would make him tough to beat. First Fandango is enjoying something of a renaissance at present and he is undoubtedly the main danger. Drum Valley reverts back to timber after a spell over fences and will pick up the pieces should either of the aforementioned pair fail to fire.

14:40 Market Rasen (Class 4) (3YO plus)

DEFINITELY BETTER has finally got the hang of things over hurdles and she can continue her progression and defy his 14lb higher mark. She won in the manner of a serious improver last time and is worth keeping on side. A 4lb rise for success at Fakenham may prove lenient for Brass Monkey, who could have been called the winner a long way out that day. He heads the dangers, though big runs from Dunlough Bay and Raktiman would come as no surprise.

VEYRANNO ran with plenty of promise on his chasing debut, and he is of obvious interest now tackling handicaps off what looks an exploitable opening mark. It's Oscar is fitted with first time blinkers for his return to fences. He has had plenty of chances and remains a maiden, though he still poses the greatest threat to the selection. Zazamix is undoubtedly well handicapped but he has been out of form for some time, while Hi Bob has failed to complete the last twice and could struggle to concede weight to his rivals.

A chance is taken on the Pipe newcomer MULTIMEDIA with his yard operating at a 37% strike rate in bumpers this season. Related to several winners, interest in the four-year-old would be heightened considerably if strong in the betting. After Toniight was well backed but ultimately disappointing on his NH Flat bow but he will likely show up better this time. Lawless Island was successful on his only start in points and merits consideration, while Desilvano should play a part if building on his runner-up effort at Ascot.
