Albillanbaz and Quiet Route are likely types from the Flat and the betting market should shed some light on expectations now they are sent hurdling. Experience often counts for plenty in races of this nature, however, and CTAPPERS edges the call. He was beaten a fair way into second on his C&D debut last month but the third home that day has since franked the form with a win and Mick Channon's charge is entitled to improve.

AWAYWITHTHEGREYS has improved steadily with every run over hurdles and opened his account in no uncertain terms with a 17-length triumph at Aintree last month. There should be further progress to come on just his fourth public outing over obstacles and an initial handicap mark of 118 appears reasonable. Market support for Premier Dane would have to be taken into account on his return but Greyfriars Drummer and Odin's Raven could prove greater threats to the selection.

14:50 Market Rasen (Class 1) (4YO plus)

Betfred 'The Bonus King' Summer Hurdle (Listed Handicap)

2010 winner Australia Day should strip fitter for his last spin on the level but is 10lb higher than his last winning hurdles mark and may have to settle for a minor role behind ABSINTHE, who won in spite of a steady gallop at Bangor last time and should relish a stronger pace in this larger field. Hat-trick-seeking pair Solaras Exhibition and Rajnagan continue on an upward curve, while Kian's Delight is respected having shown recent improvement on the Flat.

15:25 Market Rasen (Class 1) (4YO plus)

Eastlake is respected now having his first handicap start over the larger obstacles and last year's winner Qulinton could improve in a first-time visor but preference is for AL CO whose trainer, Peter Bowen, has won this race four times in the last decade. The selection has shown improved novice form over fences this year and now switches to handicaps having won off this mark over timber last year. Spock, seemingly the pick of Paul Nicholls' pair, is another to be considered.

REVE DE NUIT ran a race full of promise on his hurdles bow at Stratford earlier in the month, drawing well clear of the rest of the field with the eventual winner, only to be outbattled on the run-in. Sarah Humphrey's representative is entitled to improve with the benefit of that experience under his belt and is taken to get the better of Clarion Call - who is generally consistent but exposed - and penalised Hereford winner Compton Blue.

16:40 Market Rasen (Class 4) (4YO plus)

Fussey Engineering And Fussey Piling Novices' Handicap Chase

BALLYBOUGH GORTA races from 4lb out of the handicap proper but Peter Bowen's charge was clearly handed a lenient mark prior to his Hereford victory last month and rates the one to beat regardless, as he's unpenalised for his subsequent conditional jockeys' romp at Hereford six days ago. Recent Uttoxeter winner Highland River is also considered, along with Bellaboosh, who debuts for Lawney Hill.

7

17:15 Market Rasen (Class 4) (4YO plus)

Betfred 'bonus King Bingo' Handicap Chase

The Darling Boy is at his best on fast ground but is entitled to improve now returned to the larger obstacles after two recent spins over timber. Nevertheless, preference is for WELL GREEN, who was narrowly denied in novice company on his chasing debut last time and should be all the wiser for the experience gained that day. Park Lane endured an eventful time on his last visit to this track (lost weight cloth and was disqualified) but is no forlorn hope if things go to plan.
