ROOFTOP PROTEST is a tough and genuine dual-purpose performer over in Ireland. He ran a blinder to finish third in a good handicap on the Flat at the Curragh on Sunday, and that should have put him spot on for this return to hurdling. Goblet Of Fire is improving with experience, and could prove a big danger to the selection. Rajam has come on in leaps and bounds and should be in the thick of things once again.

Top staying hurdler IRIS'S GIFT should outclass these rivals today. Pitched in at the deep end on his chasing debut, he jumped soundly but was ultimately well beaten in a Grade 1 contest. He has been given plenty of time to get over that disappointment and we should see the real thing today. Tigers Lair is unbeaten over fences and can chase home his stablemate, whilst Sweet Diversion finished second in a handicap last time and can take third spot.

EAST TYCOON was making good headway when blundering away his chance behind Tamango at Newton Abbot last time. He was previously unbeaten in two outings over fences and can redeem his reputation with a clear round this afternoon. Tamango was a surprise winner of that race, but the manner of that victory suggested he would be winning more races. Impek was well held by Tango Royal here in July, but can get the better of that rival on much better terms today.

15:50 Market Rasen (Class C) (3YO only)

Bluesqpoker.com Juvenile Novices' Hurdle

KNIGHTSBRIDGE HILL is 8lb better off with Moonfleet for a 3/4l beating on his hurdling debut three weeks ago. Normal progression should see him reverse the form with that rival and open his account this afternoon. Goldstar Dancer has developed into a more than useful juvenile, but the concession of weight all round could end his winning run. Whirling got the hang of things too late when a staying on second on her hurdling debut but looks sure to improve.

5

16:25 Market Rasen (Class E) (4YO plus)

Audrey Buttery Reunion Handicap Hurdle

QUINTUS is making his debut for Alan King, and this one time useful sort could deliver the goods for his new connections. He was a respectable fourth in a Flat claimer at Tramore last time, and looks to be on a reasonable mark today. Prairie Sun had a successful season over hurdles last term, and carried on the good work on the Flat over the summer. Lake Merced has shown improved form recently and commands plenty of respect.

6

16:55 Market Rasen (Class E) (4YO plus)

Easibed Novices' Handicap Hurdle

2m 1f 110y

Winner £3,427 - 13 ran

After finishing a respectable second on his hurdling debut, SHARAAB improved to beat the disappointing Spuradich last time. There is little strength in depth in this contest and he can follow up this afternoon. The main threat could come from Game On, a three times winner over fences on this course, who seems well-in on his steeplechase rating. Jimmy Byrne has generally been unable to translate some useful Flat form to the winter game.

7

17:25 Market Rasen (Class H) (4YO to 6YO)

Duckworth Landrover Standard NH Flat Race

2m 1f 110y

Winner £1,960 - 13 ran

DON'T PUSH IT was let down by inexperience when a close third in an above average bumper at Warwick on his debut last December. The winner and second in that race are clearly decent types and he should meet nothing of their calibre today. Bluecoat made a pleasing debut before opening his account in smooth fashion at Hexham, but the concession of 7lb to the selection could be beyond him. Silent Age looks sure to improve on his debut effort on this course back in May.
