In an open contest, it might pay to stick with HANNICEAN who was still second when falling at the last over 2m at Uttoxeter on just his second run over timber. He can take this with a clear round. Like his boxing namesake, Calzaghe is a tough battler but he was a well held third in this grade last time and Bandanaman, on just his second start over timber, may pose a bigger threat.
Calzaghe's attitude has taken a turn for the worse of late and he could be worth taking on despite his overall record in the last year. Hannicean would have finished second in a novice hurdle last month but for falling at the last, and gets the nod over Treeko and Bandanaman.

SANSILI was weld held in second over 2m 1f at Hexham this month but never put a foot wrong on his hurdling bow that day and is entitled to have gained plenty from the experience. He looks the one to be on here. Gulf Punch was third at Bangor on his hurdling debut but well held and Septemberintherain may prove more of a threat on his debut over timber.
Hannour represents a successful yard, but his lack of experience may find him out here. Sansili sets a very modest standard, so Weekend Millionair is selected to make a winning start over hurdles.

Savaronola, a winner on the polytrack at Wolverhampton last month, has shown little in four starts over timber but it might be too soon to write him off while Northern Lad returned from a 16-month absence to run well here and can be given a chance. Towcester 2m winner J'ADHERE came from a long way back to take fifth on his handicap debut over 2m 3f here this month. This drop in trip might suit and he wins the vote.
Savaronola easily landed a gamble for his astute connections on the Flat last month and has leading claims off his lowly mark now starting out in handicaps over timber. However, J'Adhere is still relatively unexposed over hurdles and could offer better value back at this shorter trip. Northern Lad isn't the most genuine, but still looks third best.

IMPORTANT BUSINESS found only Mous Of Men too good at Uttoxeter last month and there could be more to come from him over fences so he edges the call today.
A very tricky novice chase and few can be ruled out. Tim Vaughan holds a strong hand with Picaroon and Baren de Doc, and Picaroon is taken to defy a triple penalty. Important Business may fare best of the rest.

Jonjo O'Neill's representative has been off the track since winning over 3m1f at Bangor in October last year but he acts well on this track and, with trip and ground to suit, he can go well.
There's a chance this trip will stretch the thriving De Luain Gorm, and he is opposed with Tempsford, who represents an in-form yard and whose latest win came in a strong race. Nothingbutthetruth is progressing well and must also be considered.

There was plenty to like about TAMPA BOY's second over 2m4f at Stratford almost two weeks ago and, with that first run in 14 months under his belt, he can go one better today. Safe Investment went down by a narrow margin at Uttoxeter latest and seems sure to be in the thick of the action once again, while the application of cheekpieces (worn again today) appears to have done the trick for Public Esteem and he is certainly no forlorn hope.
Public Esteem has been in good heart since rejoining his current yard and can go one better than he did over C&D earlier in the month. Sir Harry Cool races off the same mark as when successful over hurdles in March and could go close if building on a reasonably encouraging return to chasing last time, whilst Ginger's Lad is another to consider.

It could pay to side with SIR CYCROID HAWK on debut. The offspring of Hawk Wing represents a stable that do particularly well in this sphere and he is sure to know his job. Tony McCoy seemingly hasn't lost faith in the Paul Webber-trained Black Annie and she rates the biggest threat, while Wicked Streak has shown enough promise in previous starts to suggest that he can get involved at the business end of the race.
The combination of a tongue strap and better ground may help Black Annie, but Sir Cycroid Hawk really takes the eye on breeding, and won't have to be anything out of the ordinary to make a winning start. Barnack also has a future, and could get involved with his debut experience behind him.
