SOLOMN GRUNDY put in a career best, despite falling two from home, at Plumpton earlier in the month. That was his debut for this yard and he was giving two decent rivals a real race prior to his departure. Closest Friend has been set two very stiff tasks since impressively winning a novice event over C&D in October. He is rated the same as Solomn Grundy but he shoulders a penalty today, although that is largely negated by his rider's claim. Miami Present won well on his debut for this yard and is another worthy of consideration.

Phare Isle won this 12 months ago from a 2lb higher mark and there was more encouragement in his third at Exeter a few weeks ago. That said, MILLY BALOO is a mare going in the right direction and her course form figures read 1222. When last seen she was second over this track and trip to a mare who has run well again since. Shinooki is bound to be popular following back-to-back wins recently but he is 10lb higher than on his last success and this is a significantly better race.
SHINOOKI has been rejuvenated by a short break and the switch back to hurdles recently, recording easy wins at Southwell and Catterick the last twice. He arrives higher in the weights, but the way he forged clear last time suggests he may have more to offer, and he is preferred to the ultra-consistent Milly Baloo.

NECK OR NOTHING has yet to get anywhere near his bumper form over obstacles but this son of Intikhab has had more than his fair share of trainers recently. He now finds himself will Neil Mullholland, who has done well with the horses Roger Brookhouse has sent him recently. His jumping over timber was far from perfect but he is likely to have been well schooled over fences and he should respect the larger obstacles more than hurdles. Sir Notereturn from a break in fine form to win at Huntingdon in January but a 12lb rise makes life tougher today, while Coozan George has improved with runs this season and is another on the shortlist.
COOZAN GEORGE didn't meet expectations over hurdles but he caught the eye on chase debut at Doncaster last time in a race which is working out really well. He looks sure to do better in this sphere and should be up to winning a race of this nature, though both Lucky Jim and Sir Note won't make it easy for him.

AGENTLEMAN failed to give his running when disappointing at Catterick last time but makes plenty of appeal on his runner-up effort at Huntingdon previously. MAN OF GOD is 16 starts over hurdles without a win but that is surprising judged on his latest Taunton display. A winner on the level at Yarmouth, Tim Vaughan's charge ran second, beaten just a length, over this trip last month and is well worth another look off a 5lb higher mark. Gud Day has been knocking on the door in starts at Catterick and Towcester and cannot be overlooked, while Ogaritmo and Zara Hope are also given a chance.
A reproduction of MAN OF GOD's latest effort at Taunton will probably suffice here. Indeed, the 8-y-o finished strongly on that occasion and he still looks feasibly treated, despite having gone up 5 lb. Gud Day also arrives here on the back of a solid effort and rates the main danger, with Wymeswold and Ogaritmo likely to do battle for minor honours.

BLACK IVORY shaped with plenty of promise when third on his racecourse debut at Newcastle earlier this month and natural improvement makes him a big player. Third and not without his supporters that day, there was a lot to like about his performance on bottomless ground and this sounder surface may bring about some improvement. The Blue Bomber won at Lingfield and finished third in Listed company at Cheltenham earlier in the season and is one to consider despite his lacklustre Kempton display last month, while Crazy Penguin is also noted.
