In an open contest the marginal preference is for LINE OF SUNSHINE, who built on his debut effort when showing plenty of early pace over a mile at Jebel Ali a couple of weeks ago. The drop in trip and switch to turf is expected suit this son of Acclamation and he should not be underestimated. Bawadi Spirit is another who will appreciate the return to the grass, while Dignity Joy and Green Team Station complete the shortlist.

Bottle Rocket Man is an interesting US import for top connections and he was successful over 6f at Monmouth last year. That said, preference is for TANEEN, who chased home Rich And Famous over C&D on his seasonal return three weeks ago. The nine-year-old can reverse that form with the benefit the run and he is also 7lb better off today. Those looking for an each-way alternative should consider Quiet Endeavour and Tabarak.

DUBAI MIRAGE finished second in a pair of Carnival handicaps on turf last season that were much stronger than this contest and his two subsequent starts on dirt can be forgiven. The five-year-old wasn't at his very best in the UK afterwards, but he ran well enough at York in July and he may prove to be too good for his rivals today. Yaalail has been running well at Abu Dhabi of late and he finished second in a similar event over C&D 12 months ago. Wrecking Crew was placed in Grade 1 contests on dirt earlier in his career and he has to be of some interest. Another to consider is Mystery Land, who won a mile turf handicap off this mark here last season and his recent Jebel Ali performances have been encouraging.

A case can be made for most of these but the vote goes to ZERO TO A HUNDRED, who appreciated the drop back in trip when finishing second over C&D a month ago. Winners Club filled third place in that contest on his UAE debut and he may well get closer to the selection today. Others to note are Ra'ad and Tapitution.

SILENT FILM looks sets to add to Charlie Appleby's outstanding Meydan record in this contest, based on his victory when last seen at Sandown in June. The form of that race is very strong, with the second now rated 11lb higher and the fourth subsequently landing a Grade 3 in the US, which suggests that this son of New Approach could prove to be very well handicapped. Dubai Legacy finished third in a Listed event over C&D last February and he should be in the mix once again, while Madkhal and Almoreb are the pick of the remainder.

Kanood has to be respected having made a winning return here last month, but he won on his seasonal debut here last season and was a beaten favourite on his next outing. With that in mind, a chance can be taken with SANAD LIBYA, who failed to fire over an inadequate 1m1f at Jebel Ali when last seen. Earlier in the season, the five-year-old finished third in a rated conditions event over 1m2f at this venue and a reproduction of that level of form today would give him a big chance off this mark. Mudallel is another to consider, although the form of his recent win over C&D is not overly strong, while Anizzah and Talo both merit each-way consideration.

ONE RULER may not have lived up to expectations as a three-year-old, but he was far from disgraced in finishing sixth in the 2000 Guineas and Derby. The son of Dubawi has been given a break and gelded since finishing a close fourth in a French Listed race in August and he should take plenty of stopping today. That said, stablemate La Barrosa is more than capable of giving the selection plenty to think about if returning to the form which saw him finish second in the Craven last April. Latest Generation chased home two decent handicappers on his final start in 2021 and he may have more to offer this year.

Al Nefud was a hugely impressive winner on his UAE debut a couple of weeks ago, but this is a much tougher test and the quick turnaround is also a concern. El Patriota was third in the Al Bastakiya last season, having previously won the trial for that contest, and he is arguably the one to beat, although the drop in trip on his seasonal return is not ideal. With all of that in mind, a chance can be taken with CLOUDBRIDGE, who was placed in a Group 3 as a two-year-old for Charlie Appleby. The son of Hard Spun has only been seen once subsequently and his pedigree suggests that he should have no problem handling dirt.

JADWAL ran well in some very competitive handicaps in the UK last year and he should be spot on for this having had a spin over 7f on the dirt at Jebel Ali a month ago. Dane O'Neill has chosen Ejaaby over the selection and he has to be respected having shown promise on his return from a 1081-day layoff at Abu Dhabi in November. Dahawi bounced back to form on dirt a couple of weeks ago and he ran well over C&D last January. Others to consider are City Walk and Wufud.
