NEVER DO NOTHING is rated 91 on the Flat and, in receipt of 6lb from a couple of winners over obstacles, rates as the value pick on stable debut for John McConnell. The Irish handler has developed a reputation for improving new recruits and the four-year-old is clearly fancied to do well in this sphere. El Picador struck easily over C&D three weeks ago and is at home on a decent terrain, while Extreme Force, a 28/1 winner at Catterick recently, is also expected to be up there.

One Night In Milan finished second in a better race at Aintree 25 days ago, but he might just find giving the progressive MIGHTY THUNDER 14lb too big of an ask. The seven-year-old has been successful in two of his last three starts, including over this C&D last month, and could benefit from a positive ride once more. Arthurs Secret was third behind the selection 23 days ago and should get a bit closer this time.

Sporting Press has bumped into a couple of fairly treated rivals when finishing second the last twice and deserves respect, while Copper West wasn't disgraced when fifth in a better race at Aintree in November and warrants a second glance. Fixed Rate was second after over a year off the track on Merseyside when last seen but, at a likely better value price, LAKE TAKAPUNA is the pick. A reliable handicapper in Ireland, he can go well fresh and a mark of 128 might be lenient now debuting for James Ewart.

Snookered hasn't stopped improving this season and the Brian Ellison-trained gelding is of obvious interest as he bids for a five-timer after another comfortable triumph at Wetherby last month, but a 9lb rise for that success leaves him 33lb higher than when his winning streak began and the handicapper may be getting to grips with him now. ASHINGTON, on the other hand, may have been underestimated by an opening mark of 121 following a pair of novice hurdle romps, including over this C&D latest, and John Quinn's five-year-old could have plenty more to come after only three starts over timber. Newtown Boy won a decent event at Haydock off 4lb lower last month and is another to consider.

Highway Companion is creeping down the ratings and looks capable of a bold bid, while Pat's Pearl travels over from Ireland and John McConnell's Downpatrick winner warrants the utmost respect. Preference, however, is for PAMMI, who shaped as though her turn may be near when a good third off this mark over C&D last month and this looks a slightly easier assignment.

Diamond Rock is interesting tackling 3m for the first time as he's shaped as though it may suit over shorter trips, but BENNY'S SECRET could be a safer option having won over an extended 2m6f at Kelso in the spring of last year. Nick Alexander's charge arrives in fine form, having won and finished second here on his last two outings, and the yard have been among the winners of late. Lucinda Russell won this race 12 months ago and her Exit To Where should not be underestimated.
