RUNSWICK RELAX's last couple of efforts when standing up have been very encouraging and he showed no signs of stopping over 2m3f at Catterick last time. An 8lb rise is sure to make life a tougher but he gets the vote to follow up, possibly at the main expense of Wakhan, who comfortably held off Top Cat Dj over this C&D earlier in the month. Flaming Thistle was last seen winning at Hexham 256 days ago and he makes up the shortlist.
RUNSWICK RELAX, who jumped much better to capitalise on his lower chase mark to score at Catterick last month, is still potentially well treated in this sphere, so earns the vote in the hope he can back that up. Recent C&D scorer Wakhan is fancied to give him most to think about.

Dr Beaujolais wasn't beaten far here when last sighted 11 months ago and he warrants plenty of respect on his return to action, while Almost Gemini shouldn't be too far away at the business end of the race either. Slight preference, however, is for handicap debutant TOWERBURN. He has run to a fair standard in each of his three starts in novice company and an opening mark of 103 might be underestimating his ability. Stepping up from 2m could also bring about some improvement.
ALMOST GEMINI couldn't justify strong market support at Kelso last time but it was still a decent effort and he's taken to resume winning ways back at the same distance as his Sedgefield success. Definitely Better has taken steps back in the right direction on her last 2 starts and is dangerously well treated, while Nafaath has numerous good efforts to his name in similar events.

Stoneham faces a much easier task than when finishing down the field in a competitive handicap at Cheltenham last time and she merits consideration, but STORMING STRUMPET is nicely treated at these weights and gets the nod. She receives 7lb off Iain Jardine's charge despite being rated 1lb superior on official figures and this is arguably her easiest assignment to date. Definitely Glad might improve for the first-time hood and has place credentials, as do hurdling newcomers Regal Ways and Mo Chailin.
REGAL WAYS ended her time with Mark Johnston in fine form, and having joined another good yard, could well be the answer now hurdling with stamina assured. Storming Strumpet sets a solid if unspectacular standard, while Mo Chailin is another to note on her debut over timber.

Brian Ellison has saddled two of the last three winners of this contest and his Zaidiyn makes plenty of appeal following promising efforts both here and at Haydock, but SHREWD edges the vote. He justified strong market support when winning readily over this C&D recently and a 15lb rise might not be enough to anchor him if arriving in the same mood. Holly Bush Henry looks to be improving all the time and he won't give up on the hat-trick without a fight.
HOLLY BUSH HENRY has done nothing but improve for Graeme McPherson and looked well ahead of his mark at Doncaster recently, and though the handicapper has raised him a stone for that win, this lightly-raced gelding remains open to improvement and is one to keep on side. Zaidiyn caught the eye over C&D last time and should be in the mix again, along with last-time-out winner Shrewd.

Like many before him, Home For Tea possibly didn't handle the undulations of Cartmel when a disappointing favourite last time and he might be worth another chance on his first start for Keith Dalgleish, but ROSQUERO looks a slightly more solid option. Kenny Johnson's gelding responded positively to the hood/blinkers combination (used again today) when a gallant second at Catterick last time and he is sure to go close if reproducing that level of performance. On The Case also has a chance.
Not many arrive with pressing claims and it might be worth chancing HOME FOR TEA, who is 12 lb lower than when going close twice early last season and certainly wouldn't be the first to be revived by a switch to the Keith Dalgleish yard. Southern raider On The Case should be thereabouts if his jumping holds up, while Court of Law has been consistent in similar events this term.

SIMARTHUR sprung into life in a similar C&D event earlier this month, winning by an impressive six lengths, and with that confidence booster under his belt, he might be able to defy a 9lb hike in the ratings. Omid backed up his easy Sedgefield success with a solid placed effort at Carlisle and he looks sure to be on the premises again, while Solway Sam, who finished third behind the selection last time, Arctic Court and Itstimeforapint add further spice to the race.
ARCTIC COURT isn't getting any younger, but he wasn't disgraced in a much stronger handicap over 26f at this course last time, and with the drop back in trip no problem, he may offer some value in a wide-open contest. Simarthur is sure to be popular following his 6-length C&D win last time and he isn't dismissed lightly, while High Fair is another to consider on return from a break.
