HOPE IS HIGH has improved no end since going handicapping for the first time at Yarmouth in July and John Berry's charge should have more to offer. An improver for the step up in distance that day, finishing second, and a winner at Bath on her next outing, the daughter of Sir Percy is unchanged on a mark of 52 following a solid placed effort there last time and the step up to 1m4f may bring about further improvement. Fillydelphia and Breton Blues can also get competitive.

THE RESDEV WAY is the sole course and distance winner in the field following his breakthrough success here last month and, an evident improver for the step up to this trip, the three-year-old can go from strength to strength. Stags Leap has been busy over jumps and is a player reverting to this code on the pick of his form, while Kicking The Can is another to take seriously following his placed effort behind the selection last time.

WOR LASS accounted for the reopposing Megara (fifth) when winning over C&D last month and, a winner over 1m6f at Musselburgh on her next outing, she can leave her latest Ayr performance over a shorter trip well behind now stepped back up to 2m for this assignment. Lexi's Boy is no stranger to success over this trip and cannot be overlooked, likewise consistent performers Itlaaq and Mister Bob.

Tamayef represents a powerful Newmarket stable on debut and the market should tell us more about his chance, but preference is for experience. TROOPER'S GOLD has done enough in three starts to suggest a maiden of this nature is well within his compass and if running up to a mark of 77, he could prove too good. Kuraka can build on an encouraging start to his career at Carlisle and Doctor Cross is also noted.

The handicapper has taken no chances with RUSSIAN FINALE's opening handicap mark of 74 after her battling maiden success at Chepstow earlier this month but the well-bred filly could prove good enough to defy it. A daughter of Dansili and a full sister to Russian Realm, the three-year-old looks to be a typical improver and should relish this step up in trip to 1m. Mockinbird shaped with promise at Epsom a fortnight ago when third and her trainer has enjoyed some success over the last few days, while Barwah and Flinty Fell should make this an interesting battle for the minor placings.

William Haggas often does well with his northern raiders so Fareeq is entitled to maximum respect now with a first time tongue-tie, while Cajmere is on a stiff opening mark and might need to drop a few pounds before finding the winners enclosure. It could be worth handing CHAMPION HARBOUR one final opportunity to shed his maiden tag returned to a surface that he has gone well on twice in the past. Richard Fahey's charge is consistent and has the form to land this if something less exposed fails to produce the required improvement.

HEIBA showed signs of promise in three starts earlier this season and this represents an excellent opportunity for the lightly-raced four-year-old to get off the mark. If the son of Starspangledbanner runs to his rating of 72 then he could prove tough to stop under the Silvestre De Sousa drive. Shesthedream has some decent form and it is no major surprise to see her drop back to maiden company after struggling in a handicap last time out, while Nuala Tagula needs to be monitored for market support on her UK debut for John Quinn.

INTENSE STARLET went into her last race here earlier this month with a strike-rate of 0-10 but came out of it a game winner. Marjorie Fife's charge showed a liking for Tapeta and the five-year-old could follow up off just 4lb higher. Indastar and Sugar Town have both won here on this surface and remain in fine form, while Lady Joanna Vassa arrives here following a short break for Richard Guest. Chandresh has a visor fitted and the services of Silvestre De Sousa for just the second time, which could provide a change in her fortunes.
