A race that usually throws up an above-average winner, although the standout is clearly the 2014 victor under whose name it is now run. Tamkeen is arguably the one to beat given his previous experience but the fact that he was beaten at Redcar last time out is an obvious concern. King's Proctor was well supported on debut at Haydock and the form of that race has worked out extremely well and the son of Cape Cross has to be of interest. UAE SOLDIER cost 160,000gns as a yearling and he is bred on the extremely successful Dansili/Sadler's Wells nick that has already produced the likes of The Fugue and Flintshire. Roger Varian's juvenile is out of a Group 2-winning mare and he shares his page with the Group 1 winner Cursory Glance.

This does appear to be the stronger of the two divisions on paper with the likes of Agar's Plough, Come On Tier and Rich Identity all showing enough ability already to suggest that they can win a race of this nature. That said, the preference is for ISPOLINI, who is a half-brother to the Listed-placed Playful Sound and he is out of a Grade 2 winner who shares her page with the likes of Nathaniel and Great Heavens. With that in mind, it is no surprise that the son of Dubawi cost 1,200,000gns as a yearling and he represents a yard who have an outstanding record with juveniles. Petit Palais is a half-brother to the 2000 Guineas winner Galileo Gold who cost 220,000gns, while Dawn Dancer is closely related to Ballet Concerto.

Course and distance winner Maratha is 3lb higher than his triumph here earlier this term, though a return to Colwick Park seemed to spark a revival in Stuart Williams' Cape Cross gelding when he was third last time and he is one to consider. The Irish raider Pure Action has to be respected attempting to follow up his Dundalk triumph, which came on his first start after a gelding operation, while Off Art arrives here in form and is another for the shortlist. However, the preference is for the Marcus Regoning gelding MONAADHIL, who was impressive over a mile at Leicester on debut before being carried left late on when coming to challenge at Yarmouth last time. He can make a return to the winner's enclosure here.

Master Archer has knocked on the door on the last three occasions and has performed admirably at this track in the past. However, he may have to settle for minor honours once more with preference for the Gary Moore duo. Epsom scorer WHINGING WILLIE is preferred to Rydan as the eight-year-old can put all his experience to good use. St Mary's was only a neck away over course and distance a fortnight ago and is another who must be taken seriously despite a 3lb rise for that effort.

LYDIATE LADY is hard to oppose having completed the three-timer with a comfortable success at Redcar last time. She is up a further 10lb now but is a mare firmly on the upgrade and looks worth sticking with from her high draw. Recent Catterick victor Apricot Sky has to be respected while in such good form, while Fantasy Keeper comes back to 5f following a cracking runner-up finish over 6f here last time.

Riponian has won two of his last three but he bombed badly in between and needs to show his true colours. World Record has been in good form at Brighton in recent weeks, while Break The Silence was a winner at that same venue last month. However, slight preference is for DELLAGUISTA, who ran really well when second in a stronger grade at Ayr last time and she can break from the plum stall.

HITCHCOCK bounced right back to form when winning by six lengths at Musselburgh last time and even a 10lb hike in the weights might not be enough to halt the progress of this one. Harlequin Rock was successful on his latest start at Yarmouth and he can be expected to make his presence felt again, while Mr Cool Cash could go well if leaving behind a modest effort last time.

ROCK ON DANDY stepped up on his previous form when only finding one too strong over this trip at Yarmouth last time and he makes plenty of appeal turned out quickly from the same mark. The consistent England Expects can be expected to make her presence felt again, while despite incurring the wrath of the handicapper in recent weeks, the hat-trick-seeking Royal Cosmic has to be respected as well.
