TAFAAKHOR has shown plenty of promise in both starts to date and he looked sure to pick up a race soon when second at Haydock recently. Similar comments apply to Fastar, who overcame greenness to finish second on his debut at Windsor last month. The rest of those with experience look up against it, especially as there are some intriguing newcomers in this field. Blue Point cost 200,000gns as a yearling and he is a half-brother to the Group 2-winning juvenile Formosina, while Spun Gold is a half-brother to Royal Ascot winner Arab Dawn.

Another chance can be given to PERIGEE, who may have bumped into a useful rival when he was second at Haydock a couple of weeks ago. That run came on the back of a fine third on his seasonal debut at Newmarket and a repeat of either performance would give the son of Cacique a big chance this afternoon. Jimenez has a similar profile but his form is marginally weaker. Others worthy of consideration are Eljeemi, Master Gunner and Staunch.

A moderate contest but it is hard to oppose LADY MAKFI, who will be very hard to beat if she can transfer her recent improvement on the all-weather to the turf. The four-year-old shoulders a 6lb penalty for her win at Wolverhampton last week but most of her rivals today are far more exposed and find winning extremely difficult. That said, Desktop has won two of his last four starts and a 2lb rise in the ratings for his win at Wetherby a few weeks ago looks fair. District Attorney and Frosty The Snowman complete the shortlist.

The comparatively unexposed FLOWERS ON VENUS gets the tentative nod in a very competitive contest. She was marginally disappointing at Windsor last time but the four-year-old did not get the clearest of runs on that occasion and she is likely to have more to offer on her sixth career start. Growl has looked like a winner waiting to happen in all of his starts this season, while Upavon exploited a low turf mark with back-to-back wins last month and he is still 11lb below his all-weather rating.

The step into handicap company should help ROCOCOA and an opening mark of 65 looks fair on her achievements to date. Secret Look has to give plenty of weight away but he has bounced back to form of late and his penultimate success came from a mark of 87, albeit back in August 2013. Atrayu would have a big chance if he can transfer his recent progression on synthetic surfaces to the turf.

After hitting the crossbar in his last two starts, this looks an ideal opportunity for MINTY JONES to return to winning ways. A 1lb rise for his latest second-place finish is more than fair and the seven-year-old is proven on all types of conditions. Potternello has dropped below her last winning mark and she is dangerous to discount, especially with the Mick Channon yard going so well at the moment. Cadland Lad and Krazy Paving both make some each-way appeal.

The step up in trip is a big positive for All The Rage, who improved with each start as a juvenile and her trainer has done really well with fillies with similar profiles in the past. That said, PURE FANTASY was placed in a highly competitive maiden over 1m at Kempton when last seen in November. On that evidence, a mark of 71 may underestimate her ability and this royal representative is another who should relish this extra distance. Carenot would arguably be the pick of the remainder.

A tricky contest to close the card but the marginal preference is for LITTLE CHOOSEY, who won over C&D last week but escapes a penalty for that success as it was an apprentice handicap. Sexy Secret could prove to be the main danger following two fine efforts on the all-weather, while The Dukkerer makes some each-way appeal despite having to carry top weight. Last Wish and Master Of Song are also noted.
