DEEBEE was only beaten a length despite finishing fourth on his debut at Ayr last month and he should be hard to beat if improving for that experience. Dubai Icon made his first racecourse appearance in a very strong race at Goodwood and he should find this contest to be an easier target. Midport's sales price increased from 23,000 euros as a foal to 90,000gns a year later and he is the pick of the newcomers, ahead of his stablemate Mister Merlin.

History states that this and the following second division should be races to follow as every winner of this contest since 2014 has gone on to earn black type. Those with previous form do not inspire a lot of confidence, but Dalakina is the pick of them based on her debut effort at Ascot. That said, preference is for MANNAAL, who is the second foal out of a Group 3-winning juvenile and she represents a yard in top form at the moment. Poetic Legacy is from a successful family in Italy and her half-brother Dylan Mouth won at Group 1 level, while Shamameya is another who makes plenty of appeal on paper.

DORAH outran odds of 18/1 to finish a nose second on her debut over C&D two weeks ago and the daughter of Camelot is clearly the one to beat based on that evidence. Dark Delight and Shagalla should both improve for their debut outings, but the main threat to the selection may come from one of the newcomers. Isabella Brant represents a yard who have had a few first-time-out winners this season and she is out of a half-sister to the Group 2 winner and Middle Park/Prix Morny runner-up Zipping. Grace And Danger, Alemagna and Dalmore are other debutants to note.

FIVE ANGELS got going too late when finishing fourth at Redcar late last month and a reproduction of that effort would give him a big shout today, especially off a 2lb lower mark. Improvising struggled when upped to class 4 company last time out but her previous form suggests that she could make the frame, while Red Hut Red is handicapped to go well if she can improve upon her most recent efforts.

John Gosden took this race last season and he has a real chance once again with WHITLOCK, who was dual winner earlier in the year and went close at Sandown last time when drawing clear of a useful field of rivals along with the eventual winner. Exec Chef has won his last three, but a 4lb rise for his latest Newbury triumph gives the second that day, Medieval, a chance to turn the tables. Collide can be forgiven his handicap debut performance on horrid ground at Ayr and the Frankel colt could still find plenty of improvement at this trip, having looked useful in novice contests, while Zeelander has some decent form under his belt and is respected dropping in distance.

John Mackie's FIRE JET got the better of St Mary's in this race last season and the dual C&D winner looks set for a leading role again. The five-year-old can reverse form with Goodwood conqueror Elasia on today's revised terms, with Roger Varian's Nathaniel filly a huge danger having looked a handy staying prospect in her outings so far. Di Alta placed at Catterick last time and is noted, with course winner Sea Youmzain also making each-way appeal.

Bahamian Sunrise was second in this off 2lb higher last year and, with ease in the ground in his favour, he should be capable of a solid performance. Wiley Post has made the podium the last twice and warrants respect, along with C&D winner Samovar, who won three races in a row before disappointing last time. However, preference is for GLAMOROUS ROCKET, who notched up a hat-trick of victories in the summer and has been getting back to her best of late, rattling the crossbar on the last three occasions.

Liamba thrived when switching back to turf and dropping to this distance at Ayr last time and, despite set to encounter slightly faster underfoot conditions, David O'Meara's youngster has to be on the shortlist. Seamster has a decent record here and could defy his ageing legs, but preference is for GLYDER, who was only beaten a head in a similar Beverley contest in August and she could appreciate the switch back to grass.
