In a race that will not take much winning, marginal preference is for HANDHELD, who only found one too good in a similar race here last month and a 1lb rise for that effort is not prohibitive. First Sargeant is another to arrive in good form and he could prove to be the main danger. Free One, The Dukkerer and We'll Shake Hands complete the shortlist.

LIGHTNING NORTH only found an experienced rival too good on her introduction at Yarmouth a couple of weeks ago and the daughter of Mayson should benefit from that run. Kamra was well supported when a beaten favourite on debut but he appeared to improve for that outing when second on his next start and could have more to offer. Indie Rock and Stop The Wages have also shown enough in their previous starts to be considered.

SHOW PALACE got back to winning ways at Haydock last month and can go on again from that performance off a 4lb higher mark. Sleepy Blue Ocean won well when last seen at Southwell and should be a threat despite a four-month break, while Royal Acquisition is fairly treated with Josephine Gordon claiming a valuable 3lb.

DARMA won well last time over C&D and a 4lb rise plus an additional 2lb thanks to Josephine Gordon's claim now being 3lb shouldn't prove enough to stop the daughter of Acclamation, who shows bright early speed in her races. It Must Be Faith is now on a workable mark having dropped down the handicap sufficiently, while Magical Effect is entitled to improve for his return to action over C&D earlier this month.

DUTCH ARTIST was fourth behind a well-handicapped horse in Final at Beverley last week and is one of only a couple coming into this in any sort of form. The main threat on paper looks to be Shamaheart, who has been in excellent form this season and should run his usual honest race. Of the rest, Kummiya has been given a chance by the handicapper after a poor run on soft ground at Newmarket last month.

The unexposed FROZON improved markedly at this venue four days ago when just beaten into second. He competes off the same figure and it is interesting that Brian Ellison turns him out so quickly in a bid for compensation. Rosie Crowe has a tough draw but did return to form on turf at Yarmouth, while Sirdaal is an intriguing contender now in the handicap sphere after three poor efforts so far. Scent Of Power and Honey Badger can fight it out for minor honours.

A sounder surface could be the key to unlocking STORM CHECK's undoubted potential and with the four-year-old drawn to attack in stall one, a bold display is anticipated from his unchanged mark. Andrew Crook's charge ran another solid race in less than ideal conditions last time out and he can get the better of Magnolia Ridge, who is likely to be well fancied off a low mark with Rachel Richardson booked for the first time. Cape Spirit is another who appreciates decent ground, and Impeccability is also respected.
