DARK AGES showed improvement between his first and second runs when second to Pyman's Theory at Leicester last month and with that rival going on to score in Listed company at Sandown on Thursday, the form has been nicely boosted. Beau Mistral faced a tough task from a wide draw at Chester last time and can be given another chance while Chater Garden is one to monitor in the betting with Kieren Fallon booked to ride.
With Brimstone Hill shaping as if this trip will be on the sharp side, Beau Mistral and Dark Ages might be the pair to fight this out. Preference is for the former who acquitted herself well at Chester last time in the face of a stiff task, and whose earlier Ripon form looks decent.

Meandmyshadow has been in good form in plating grade too but may have to settle for a supporting role now back in a handicap. Stuart Williams is capable of getting wins out of the lightly-raced Cara Carmela off such a moderate rating and she also merits a place on the shortlist.
Despite being a bit out of the handicap, Cara Carmela appeals as a horse going forward, whereas most of her rivals have hit a plateau. She can see off Johnny Hancocks and Royal Bajan.

Humidor has taken a couple of runs to hit full stride this season but returned to the winner's enclosure at Goodwood last time and remains capable of better. The improving Tagula Night returns from a break but would be of interest if the money is down, however, SECRET MILLIONAIRE gets the nod, assuming he takes his place after a spin at Haydock on Saturday. He was far from disgraced in a warm York handicap last weekend and is clearly in good shape.
If Skylla returns to form she could easily show her rivals a clean pair of heels off her present mark. However, there was much to like about the effort of Rocket Rob at Haydock last time and he too appeals as being well handicapped. At the likely prices Drawnfromthepast and, to a greater extent, Olynard look viable each-way alternatives.

TORRAN SOUND capitalised on a drop back to this trip when scoring at Yarmouth last time and may be capable of following up off a 5lb higher mark with Kieren Fallon again doing the steering. Dubara Reef is coming back to the boil judging by his second in an apprentice contest at Haydock recently. He will benefit from stronger handling tonight and is feared most. The longer trip should suit Kayaan, who completes the shortlist.
Camps Bay and Blue Nymph enter the reckoning, as does C&D winner Outland, but it wouldn't be the biggest surprise were Rannoch Moor to improve now upped in trip and amongst the handicap ranks.

ONE PURSUIT hasn't been seen since scoring on his handicap debut at Southwell in March but would take all of the beating, off a 1lb higher mark, if capable of transferring his form onto turf. If found wanting for fitness, Cinta could be the one to cash in. Marco Botti's filly was well held in listed company last time but remains weighted to make an impact in handicaps. Matavia Bay is unlikely to be far away either.
Matavia Bay looks fairly solid but Shadow Catcher and the hat-trick seeking One Pursuit are both open to improvement, and that duo can fight out the finish, with Shadow Catcher likely to represent better value.

PAOLETTA showed up well on her debut when second at Windsor earlier this month and is taken to build upon that effort with the benefit of the run behind her. Electra Star is entitled to improve upon her last time out second at Wolverhampton, a race in which the winner enjoyed the run of the race, however, she has an absence to overcome. Debutant Bashasha would be interesting if the market speaks in her favour.
Electra Star is of interest on her return with Kieren Fallon booked, while Bashasha has to be considered first time up, but this should go the way of Paoletta if she can build on her promising debut at Windsor.

MISREPRESENT weakened inside the final furlong over C&D last time but is bred to get a mile and is given another chance considering she is John Gosden's only representative on the card. Focal is entitled to improve for the experience gained on his debut at Newmarket last year and this longer trip is likely to suit. Eraadaat is out of French 1,000 Guineas winner Ta Rib, thus makes appeal on breeding, and is another to consider.

TRANSFER advertised his well being when beaten by less than a length into third at Warwick last time, remains open to improvement over middle distances, and gets the vote with a 2lb rise in the weights unlikely to prevent another bold bid. Straversjoy was in good form on the all-weather over the winter but remains winless on turf and a bigger danger may be posed by Pattern Mark, for whom the booking of Paul Hanagan appears significant.
Transfer shaped well in a big field at Warwick on his first start for his new yard last time and he's well-in here against mostly out-of-form sorts. The reliable Pattern Mark and Straversjoy easily appeal most of the rest.
