MAN LOOK seemed to improve for a three-month break when winning a maiden hurdle comfortably at Sedgefield back in May and has had a similar break coming into this where he escapes carrying any sort of penalty. Golden Town has become frustrating for win purposes but should hit the frame once again, while Sense Of Urgency looks best of the remainder.

CHITU sets a very fair standard on his chasing form so far and there was no disgrace in him being beaten over C&D in June by Vosne Romanee when trying to give him 6lb on that occasion. His 6lb penalty has been negated by Adam Short's claim and he is taken to return to winning ways. Chieftain's Choice was no match for Azzuri on his chase debut at Southwell and will need to take a step forward here, while Rendezvous Peak can win the battle for third against Alys Keys.

An Fear Ciuin has had plenty of chances to get off the mark over timber and it looks more than likely that he will play second fiddle to SKEAPING. Gordon Elliott enjoys his trips over from Ireland and the son of Excellent Art can go one better than his second at Ballinrobe last week with Jamie Codd in the saddle today. Special Prep looks capable of further improvement with the addition of a first-time tongue-tie.

SONNEOFPRESENTING has done little wrong of late having won his last three outings over the larger obstacles and the step up to 3m will undoubtedly bring about improvement from Kim Bailey's gelding. Kilbree Kid has a superb course and distance record having never finished out of the first two in six starts over the larger obstacles, while Heist may well have more progression to come over fences.

20:00 Perth (Class 5) (3YO plus)

Gordon Elliott's record here is well documented and it is interesting to see him start new recruit Pinotage at this venue under promising 7lb claimer James Bowen, while Firstymini catches the eye at the bottom of the weights for Mike Smith. Wot A Shot has vital past course-winning form but the eye is drawn to NOVO DAWN, who returned to form at Cartmel last time and now has Jamie Codd doing the steering. This stiffer test should suit and he is handed the vote to score for the Crawford's.

Jack The Hat is an interesting runner here for Madeleine Tylicki but has only run once in the last two years and doubts remain over him now at the age of 12. Tom George has a solid 14-60 record here in the last five years so any market support for Cuirassier Dempire would be worth noting, though this can go the way of Tom Lacey's DAVID JOHN, who won on stable/chase debut at Worcester 59 days ago and could have more to give for this handler.

Last year's winner JOHNNY GO returns to try and defend his crown from a 2lb lower mark and the two-time course winner looks tough to oppose in a contest full of old Perth regulars. The selection probably ran below par last time out but this looks easier and he can account for Lake Malawi, who needs to prove that he can go well fresh following an absence of 313 days, and Gold Chain, who loves it here and tries a new headgear combination.
